    That's why For the longest time I find it the funniest Bengali insult!

    I think in Bengali culture when one use the expression they mean to say this: "you're not my child/sister/brother, you're a child of a pig" - to disassociate themselves before hurling the insult. Indeed ... very lame ...

    According to my parents I am a "Bint Soq" which basically translates to "daughter of the marketplace", I feel so offended.  bunny

    Hey, I call my kids Gaandhu in front of my parents, you should see their reaction.  I just claim I dont know what it means as I was born here (its a queenie isnt it Wink).  They say its a bad word, but refuse to tell me what it means.

    One can say that. Friends use it as banter amongst themselves.

    Completely offtopic but reading your sig and the title under your username made me sooo happy that I can still read some Urdu! I thought I'd forgotten it...my Urdu was always really weak.  dance
