I play bass and guitar. Bass is my main thing, but love playing rhythm guitar also, and use one when I'm writing.

anyone else play anything?

I played viola in elementary school, percussion in middle school. Wish I could play trumpet, guitar or keyboard.

I chose to get circumcised at 17, don't tell me I never believed.

Now that I've apostated and have no silly rule against playing an instrument, I want to learn how to play the sax.

I play guitar.

I too was brainwashed into believing that music was haraam when I was a kid (thanks to a crazy fundo organization for women in Pakistan called "Al-Huda"). But I just love music too much and was relieved when I no longer believed this nonsense.

I play instruments,guitar,Kora,and a little african percussion.

Music is one of the greater knowledge in this world,and that some muslims belives that it is haram,is beyond my understanding.

The arab say it is only the daff,drum that is okey.In my homeland,a muslim man,would never attend a meeting where the drum is played,because in africa,the drum is the one that brings out "undeasant" dance.The drum is the one who make womans hips move,so in religious affairs,the drum is never present.But the Kora would be.Kora is a 21 string instrument,build over an calabas and a wooden pole.It can remind of a harp,the sound also.

Guitar Hero!!

I play drums and I've bought a guitar a few weeks ago.
Never had the time to learn something on it though...
I also know how to mix music on a turntable and how to produce music using Fruity Loops...

Had to play the recorder in elementary school, then moved on to the flute, then started playing drums when I was 14 and got a kit which I had to sell when I moved to England .

I've been playing a drum called as surdo in a Brazilian Carnivale-style samba band for the past few years, plus a little snare here and there and some other hand held instruments.

I never could buy into all that crap that music is haram in Islam because I have always felt closest to god when I'm beating away on my drums and get into 'the zone'.

@Marleya, the kora is one of my favourite instruments. There's a guy who is always playing one in the city centre on weekends and I always stop to give him some money.

I know him but can't remember his name. He's buddies with the guy who runs the samba band I perform with, he's either from Mali or Senegal.
