Vodka is probably the worst spirit in the world. The thing that annoys me about vodka is 99% of people who drink it, drink it because they don't like the taste of alcohol.

I know you do have vodka afficionados, but the majority of people who drink vodka, drink it only to get drunk.

Not those of us who drink it straight.

Try Cold River vodka sometime-- a potato vodka made in Maine. Best vodka I've ever had, hands down-- it may change your mind about vodka. Drink it straight at room temperature or only slightly chilled, putting it in the freezer (as some like to do with vodka) will ruin the taste. Second on my list would be Ciroc-- a grape vodka made in France. Also excellent shit. Best served moderately cold (put it in the fridge), but is tasty at any temp.

I prefer to stick to sambuca, all flavours, and mixed with lemonade haha, I like my drink to last, helps my pockets.  Tongue

You don't actually get drunk on that stuff do ya? I like a shot of buca with an espresso or regular black coffee after a meal-- but getting drunk on anisette seems like a recipe for vomiting and a very bad hangover the following day.

    fuck you

I like cider, beer, wine, gin, irish whisky, scotch, brandy, dark rum, grand marnier, and pernod. I don't like vodka, it doesn't really taste of much and it just makes me feel sick.

I know that there are people out there that do like the taste of vodka, but its just all these kids who go out drinking and drink vodka and coke, vodka and red bull, and alcopops. They are the vodka drinkers that I hate!

    Tried it, spat it out

Anyway Aliadiere, I love Vodka, and not because it makes me pissed-it was the first drink I ever had and the drink I stomach the best.

I also enjoy it with a slice of white farmhouse bread topped with lard and sliced gherkin. Lovely!

No, that's why I mix it up with shots in between.  Tequila if I can afford it, or corkys shots.  parrot

Three drinks I wouldn't touch with a bargepole.

Vodka - doesn't taste of much and gives me a really dodgy belly

Jack Daniels or any bourbon - Too sweet and not very nice

And the worst of all, Tequila - I chuck up as soon as it enters my stomach

And that is all good stuff you listed, but I'm tellin ya, try some room temp Cold River or refrigerated Ciroc straight and you might have a whole new outlook on vodka-- that stuff is really a notch above the standard grain vodka.

Mixing your liquors (especially those ones) seems like an even better way to get sick. What kind of tequila do you like (I love Sauza), and what's a corkys shot?

In America we call salt and lime "training wheels"  Wink

I do sometimes like lime with tequila, but I normally just squeeze a bit into the shotglass itself.

After an unfortunate incident involving a bottle of Famous Grouse  and a terrible hangover I have to be quite careful with whisky.

Corky's is a "spirit" about 17% abv which is just really sweet and horrible and doesn't taste of alcohol

    Got it. This stuff, right?:

    http://thespiritworld.net/2008/10/13/corkys-blueberry-vodka/

Looks to be the Brit equivalent of our Mad Dog 20/20.

BerberElla, reading what you drink on a night out, you must get wicked twisted, but also wicked hungover the next day. I can knock back plenty of booze without getting sick or too hungover the next day as long as I stick to just one kind of relatively decent quality liquor and maybe some beer too, but if I mix the kind of liquors you're drinking in the same night, I'm probably gonna puke by the end of the night, and even if I avoid that, I'd feel like a train hit me the next day. Don't get me wrong, I've drank like you many times before, and I probably will in the future too, but it's always been a bad idea.

    fuck you

Its allright if you want to get drunk, but it is not what I would drink if I was enjoying an aperitif with the Duke and Duchess of Kent. I used to work at a place where we sold 6 shots of corky's for a fiver. I thikn that is the only spirit I could drink 6 of, very quickly, in a row without feeling sick!

And we get 20/20 here as well.

    Pepsi FTW! Tongue

Back on topic, I can't think of anything that really makes me cringe, just a lot of stupid things I've said and done that I regret. Quoting the hadith, "Women are deficient in the intellect and religion" as a joke was one of the worst. Getting really upset when atheists mocked Jesus during class and too fumed to speak, wrote a message on a piece of paper, "Jesus was muslim, STFU." 015

I chose to get circumcised at 17, don't tell me I never believed.

One of my cringeworthy moments was when I told some of my family that they shouldn't spill any salt on the floor because in the akhira they'd have to pick it up with their eye-lashes.

And when I told my family that Walkers cheese & onion crisps are haraam.  These are the tastiest crisps.  Why was I trying to deprive my family from eating them!?!?!?

I've heard that thing about the salt and eyelashes before, but I thought it was a shia hadith.

I was thinking of when I was a prepubescent child, and I can imagine being such a nauseating shit. I remember telling an adult "All most Muslims care about is Halal meat and not drinking alcohol". That was obviously not my opinion but something I had heard.

My entire adult life was a one giant cringe worthy Muslim moment after another.  I was a major asshole - yes, even more of one than I am today.  It's too feckin' embarrassing to recall one specific incident.

Regarding alcohol, I never drank much of it, I certainly cannot call myself a snob. I don't like the taste of it at all.  It must be masked with sodas and juices.  What's wrong with drinking to get a buzz on or get drunk?  If that makes me a prole, so be it.  I wouldn't drink if other, more herbal substances were legal.

I like that.....That's what my dear mother called me when she found me asleep with the front door slightly open and my lower half in the front porch as she was leaving for mass....  It was one of those nights you see...  I smelled like the Jack Daniel's distillery as well..

Should I convert to Islam if I ever decide to get married?

Diet Dr. Pepper is one of the only diet sodas I've ever had - maybe the only one - that is just as tasty as the full sugar version.
