  • Article on Karen Armstrong
     OP - October 02, 2009, 03:12 PM

Good article at Islam Watch on Karen Armstrong - the David Irving of Islamic historiography - and her take on the Nakhla raid.

Tariq Ramadan also discusses this incident in his book "The Messenger: The Meanings of the Life of Muhammad". That he seeks to present this naked act of murderous aggression as a morally justified response to earlier alleged "theft" of Muslim property left behind at Mecca post hijra seriously calls into question his widely accepted status as an Islamic "reformer" and "modernizer".

Wow how interesting, even more so the comments engendered:

"she must be getting lot of $$$ to be a muzzie lover."

Getting to know a bit more about you DH. despite your not being comfortable talking about yourself.

    Ha Ha.

I just want to say that I can't stand her.  She's a moron.  I hate how people fawn over her.  I hate that pagans are using her most recent editorial about "new atheism" and faith to slam atheism, when the reality is that they'd find more likely allies in atheists than they would in slaves of Abrahamism like her.

    Wow, you're bothered.

When I get a reply that actually addresses the question, I might stop. Funny thing is, he goes all shy when he gets asked things.

If you look above JT you'll see that you didn't actually "ask me a question". You made a statement ie:

    To which I replied:

And I ask again, what "more" have you "learned" about me from my link to the Islam-watch article and my comments thereon???

Not sure about the Nakhla raids, might have to look up the relevant hadiths just to make sure.

"The ideal tyranny is that which is ignorantly self-administered by its victims. The most perfect slaves are, therefore, those which blissfully and unawaredly enslave themselves."

i am reading her biography of mohammed, she seems to love the guy but from some of her comment's you can see she doesn't believe in islam.

i also heard her say in a talk she was giving that "none of the great religions are good for women" so i think she has her reasons for not being muslim, but doesn't talk about them

I think she said in one of her books that she was an atheist. I think it was in one of her autobiographies.

I love her. Her books helped me see Islam as part of the ‘bigger picture’, as opposed to the Islamic viewpoint, where Muhammad co–opted Judaism and Christianity.
