lol... that's like asking me if my religious brother is Muslim, Tommy lol

They will of course insist that they are.

And I'll be fucked if I'm going to side with Anjem Shithead and call them Kuffar!

It's up to them how they define Islam for themselves.

Just as is it is up to me to define what I call Islam.

No I didn't mean it like that. I thought they dressed up as Muslims to mock them. I was thinking it might be that, or they might be liberal Muslims. If the latter is correct, then good for them  Afro

Britain building 'domestic extremist' protester database

Updated at: 1020 PST, Monday, October 26, 2009

LONDON: British police are building up a database of "domestic extremists" who turn up to protests, The Guardian newspaper said Monday.

The database, which includes details of activists -- including photographs and vehicle details -- features people seen at public demonstrations, for example anti-war rallies and environmental protests, the newspaper said.

The policing of demonstrations became a major issue in Britain following the G20 protests in April.

One man died when he collapsed after being hit by an officer and police also faced criticism for employing the controversial technique of "kettling" -- the compulsory containment of large crowds.

The Guardian said senior officers said the term "domestic extremism" could include activists suspected of committing minor public order offences, such as civil disobedience.

Three national police units responsible for combating domestic extremism are run by the "terrorism and allied matters" committee of the Association of Chief Police Officers (Acpo), the daily said.

The committee gets nine million pounds (14.6 million dollars, 9.7 million euros) in public funding and employs around 100 people.

The main section is the National Public Order Intelligence Unit (NPOIU), which holds the central database for information supplied from forces around the country. It routinely deploys surveillance squads at rallies.

Well I should certainly hope the police can distinguish between Anjem's Demo for Shar'ah and the Demo against it.

Besides if ordinary, decent people become afraid to go to Demos opposing the Islamists then they will be allowed a free hand!

Personally I'm not bothered at all if the Police take my picture - they probably already have it!  I've  been on demos before - e.g. in support of Perwiz Kambakhsh in front of Afghan Embassy, and in solidarity with the people of Iran...

lol - what ever the case maybe, I wish the protesters all the best - show the public and the government that when so-called 'Muslim spokes people' ask for 'sharia law', that they speak only for themselves and not the vast majority.

    Press Release:

Muslim Democrats say 'No' to radical group

Demonstration called to counter extremist Al Muhajiroun?s "March for Sharia"

    LONDON, 27 October 2009

A British Muslim group opposed to extremism, British Muslims for Secular Democracy, plans to demonstrate against a march organised by Islam4UK, the radical group headed by former Al-Muhajiroun UK leader Anjem Choudary, due to take place on Saturday 31 October 2009.

"Our protest against Islam4UK is based on our belief in, and commitment to, those liberal values that define the British state," said BMSD spokesperson, Dr Shaaz Mahboob.

"This includes legal and constitutional equality for all, equal rights for women and minorities, and religious freedom, including the right to be free of faith," he added.

Dr Mahboob urged all democrats - Muslim and non-Muslim - to support the demonstration.

"British Muslims for Secular Democracy encourages all people with a commitment to pluralism and democracy to get involved. We form part of a broad-based coalition of groups and individuals, encompassing all faiths and none, and all levels of religious practice and none. We believe it is important for all citizens to present a united front against extremism, and to reject any attempts to sow discord within our ranks," he said.

Dr Mahboob outlined the urgent need for the Muslim community to stand up for the liberal values that guarantee religious freedom in this country and to voice their opposition to extremist groups like Islam4UK in an article published in the Guardian?s Comment is Free on 23rd October 2009:

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/belief/2009/oct/23/islam4uk-march-31-october

British Muslims for Secular Democracy has also made a satirical video making it clear that the offensive, extremist demands of groups like Islam4UK are only on the fringe:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpSC4I8Njo4

To find out more and to register your support, please visit our campaign website: www.seculardemocracy.org.

Please join us in Piccadilly Circus on Saturday 31st October at 1pm.

As Dr Mahboob says, "We would like to extend an invitation to all individuals and groups who cherish the virtues of liberal democracy, to set aside their differences and stand shoulder to shoulder against the bigots who dream of taking away our freedom and liberty. We are particularly delighted to see that some who have previously held hard-line views such as Inayat Bunglawala, are prepared to stand together with BMSD in a show of solidarity against Anjem Choudary."
