    Wow this documentary really was insightful. I felt sorry for his wives and children, him on the other hand...urgh! I was hoping they would all gang up on him and beat the crap outta him, well...he's 50...they prob will soon...

    I just finished watching it. It was honest, open and raw. It shows real emotions that people find hard to divorce themselves from even when all practical bases are covered e.g. the husband being fair to all.

    Btw, 2 things:
    1. Did the little girl get married for real?
    2. By the end of the documentry, the husband had 5 wives. This is against Islam's maximum of 4.

    1.  That was an engagement party I thought
    2.  If the prophet Muhammed didnt give a stuff, then I dont think he does either.  His mum guessed right - he only cares about one thing.

    No, who said the maximum is four? The Quran says you can marry 2 and 3 and 4 = 9. If you look at how many Mr Lova Lova Mr Mo had married you'd realize that yes Muslim men are allowed to get up to 9 wives and not just 4. Besides, forget Quran... Sunna says that we should follow what Mo did... Right?

    Yes but verse 33:50 only permits for muhammad the permission to exceed the limits.

    Ribs, it does't say 'and' it says 'or' so 4 is max:

    'Ye may marry of the women who seem good to you two or three or four, but if ye fear that ye cannot observe equity between them, then espouse but a single wife'

    I am a native speaker of Arabic.... I know that Wa means AND. I wonder why the translate it to OR. Here is the arabic version and below is a screen shot of the verse (from Tanzil.info) as translated by Shakir, where it is properly translated AND.

    I once asked a hardcore-Muslim creationist relative of mine a question that made him angry and told me that you are asking hard questions that no body would dare ask.

    We were discussing evolution, or rather I was explaining how evolution has way stronger evidence than creationists holy books. He mentioned that I should be reading a lots of Muslim faith books and Hadiths and get a good grip of the Arabic language first before I try to understand or interpret a verse from the Holy Quran. He said maybe Muslims did not understand the quran well.

    My question was simple:

    "If the Quran is in Arabic language and in many verses it says that it was revealed to Mohammed in a simple easy to understand Arabic (Quranon Arabyon Mobeenon) and we Arabs find it difficult sometimes to interpret, then how come god will punish the French, the English, the Spanish or any other language speaking people for not following the Quran?"

    That made him angry and frustrated and started raising his voice..  finmad

    I told him that we can only continue discussing if he answered my question...  Cheesy

    I didn't watch the entire four horsemen thingy because of the length but I was just watching Dawkins interviewing the Bishop of Oxford. That was rather interesting.

    Another question that I found confusing to Muslims who complain that the Muslims or particularly the Arabic Muslim world are backwards and suffer from their dictator regiems and despite oil rich, they live in poverty and are relatively uneducated and being branded a "3rd world status" is this: Allah many times said in the Quran that he answers the prayers of the faithful. So how come he does not answer the prayers of zillions of mosque goers who pray in masses every Friday to improve their conditions and defeat the enemies of Islam? I tell them that there are only 2 possible answers: 1- Thete are no faithful soul in the several billions of Muslims in the entire world. Or 2- Allah does not answer prayers at all.

    They usually become speachless as well.

    A good way to prove if whether Allah occasionally answers prayers, would be too check to see if  Muslims have a higher cancer survival rate than atheists? 

    Muslim cancer sufferers would pray more to the monotheistic God than an atheist would, and thus as a whole be more likely to have their prayer answered and survive than a Murtad Kaffir would. 

    I am sure it would be fairly easy to prove this by comparing the cancer survival statistic of a largely atheist nation (the largest being Sweden which is 80% irreligious, or others like Denmark, Russia or Switzerland) vs. any Muslim nation.

    This would prove that prayers do not work (or Allah does not exist).

    Although an interesting idea, there are too many contributing effect(s) of confounding variables you would have to control such as genetics, diet (e.g. smokers and high % fat diet), age, environment and health.

    Related only until the point of studies exploring effects of religion, you maybe interested in checking out the work of distinguished neuropsychologist Richard Davidson and his work on meditation. Afro

    These confounding variables would become less significant when cross-comparing trans-global statistics e.g. all muslim countries vs. all kaffir/or even non-muslim ones...
