Is it possible to 'change' your personality type?

A couple of years ago I was an ISFP ... and for this past year, I've been an INTJ ... how is that possible Huh?

I can read the description of both types and go ... yeah that sounds like me =/

It must be my multiple personalities wacko

Unless you miss tested the first time round, or unless you are answering how you would want to be rather than how you are, it isn't possible.

ENFJ's natural partner is the INFP, or the ISFP.

    I mean like WTF!!!

I either test INFP or ENFP, but the INFP one is the one I am always most likely to get, I only ever test ENFP when I am going through my more manic social phases, which is not even that often.

Ok, what I am about to say now could be seen as offensive to some, but it's not meant to be, it's just a fact of these tests:

Sometimes people don't know themselves all that well, or don't understand the questions, which means they don't test right.  With many of my friends, I have to sit with them and help explain a lot of the questions to them, in CONCRETE terms because they don't get a fair few of the things that the test is asking them.  This is why a professional MBTI test is done under guidance.

When my friends have decided to resit the tests alone, they get differing results that don;t even match them.  They know the result is wrong because they read about the personality type, and read the one that I say is them, and instantly recognise that the one I tell them they are, or the result they got when I guided them through the questions is far more accurate.

BD, is this you > ENFJ or is this you > ENTP.

Inhale the good shit, exhale the bullshit.

    I cannot stand these tests.
All the questions seem alike after I answered 30 or so.

Also, I am in the middle in most of them.
Especially those that deal with realism vs abstraction.

So I get bored half way and quit the tests lolz

Do not look directly at the operational end of the device.

With Extraverted Intuition dominating their personality, the ENTP's primary interest in life is understanding the world that they live in. They are constantly absorbing ideas and images about the situations they are presented in their lives. Using their intuition to process this information, they are usually extremely quick and accurate in their ability to size up a situation. With the exception of their ENFP cousin, the ENTP has a deeper understanding of their environment than any of the other types.

    This is me.

    Quote
This ability to intuitively understand people and situations puts the ENTP at a distinct advantage in their lives. They generally understand things quickly and with great depth. Accordingly, they are quite flexible and adapt well to a wide range of tasks. They are good at most anything that interests them. As they grow and further develop their intuitive abilities and insights, they become very aware of possibilities, and this makes them quite resourceful when solving problems.

    This does sound like me.

    Quote
ENTPs are fluent conversationalists, mentally quick, and enjoy verbal sparring with others. They love to debate issues, and may even switch sides sometimes just for the love of the debate. When they express their underlying principles, however, they may feel awkward and speak abruptly and intensely.

I can do this if I want to, I have trolled a few times but I rarely do it. I don't have the energy. But the second part, that's not me. I usually express myself very clearly unless I'm tired or something Grin And I try to make my point as good as possible and eliminate any chance of a counter-argument right there and then. I think before I respond, usually.

    Quote
If the ENTP was defending someone who had actually committed a crime, they are likely to take advantage of quirks in the law that will get their client off the hook. If they were to actually win the case, they would see their actions as completely fair and proper to the situation, because their actions were lawful. The guilt or innocence of their client would not be as relevant.

This is not me at all, it's probably one of the reasons I was hesitant to every becoming a lawyer. That and I couldn't be fucking bothered to study hard in high-school (something I regret though) Grin I don't want a job where my morals are co-dependent with my income, fuck that.

    Quote
Under stress, the ENTP may lose their ability to generate possibilities, and become obsessed with minor details. These details may seem to be extremely important to the ENTP, but in reality are usually not important to the big picture.

Not me either, I can usually tell the important from the unimportant.
    Quote
In general, ENTPs are upbeat visionaries. They highly value knowledge, and spend much of their lives seeking a higher understanding. They live in the world of possibilities, and become excited about concepts, challenges and difficulties. When presented with a problem, they're good at improvising and quickly come up with a creative solution. Creative, clever, curious, and theoretical, ENTPs have a broad range of possibilities in their lives.

This however is me, I love seeking higher understanding and I'm sure I'm pretty damned creative. lol reading this description I wonder if Macgyver was an ENTP.

But the ENFJ sounds more like me to be honest. In general. I'm a lover not a lawyer.

It's just that the patterns in these questions are so clear that I do not need the test to figure out where it's going at.

So they could just show me the 4 variables and ask me to pick right away the percentage that represents me ^_^

Ok, now check out this test, it's the best out of all of them:

    My result:

    Quote
    Pollyanna- INFP
So, you want to make the world a better place? Too bad it's never gonna happen.

Of all the types, you have to be one of the hardest to find fault in. You have a selfless and caring nature. You're a good listener and someone who wants to avoid conflict. You genuinely desire to do good.

Of course, these all add up to an incredibly overpowered conscience which makes you feel guilty and responsible when anything goes wrong. Of course, it MUST be your fault EVERYTIME.

Though you're constantly on a mission to find the truth, you have no use for hard facts and logic, which is a source of great confusion for those of us with brains. Despite this, in a losing argument, you're not above spouting off inaccurate fact after fact in an effort to protect your precious values.

You're most probably a perfectionist, which in this case, is a bad thing. Any group work is destined to fail because of your incredibly high standards.

Disregard what I said before. You're just easy to find fault in as everyone else!

Luckily, you're generally very hard on yourself, meaning I don't need to waste my precious time insulting you. Instead, just find all your own faults and insult yourself.

    47% Extraversion, 70% Intuition, 33% Thinking, 53% Judging
Well, well, well. How did someone like you end up with the least common personality type of them all? In a group of 100 Americans, only 0.5 others would be just like you. You really are one of a kind... In fact, I do believe that that's one of the definitions for the word "FREAK."

Freak's not such a bad word to describe you actually.

You are deep, complex, secretive and extremely difficult to understand. If that doesn't scream "Freak!" I don't know what does. No-one actually knows the REAL you, do they?

You probably have deep interests in creative expression as well as issues of spirituality and human development.

You've probably even been called a "psychic" before, because of your uncanny knack to understand and "read" people without quite knowing how you do it. Don't fret. You're not actually psychic. That would make you special and you'll never accomplish that.

You're also quite possible the most emotional of them all, so don't take this all too hard. Nevertheless you most definitely have the strangest personality type and that's not necessarily a good thing.

    Busy Body- ENFJ
You manipulative busybody! You're what some might call the "backseat driver" of life. You know, the one who knows exactly what everyone else is doing wrong and how they should go about fixing it. You're always trying to change everyone else.

The strange thing is, you can generally get whoever you want, to do whatever you want. What's that? You want me to stop insulting you...well, alright...but only because you asked so nic...WAIT A MINUTE!

Stop sticking your cumbersome nose where it aint't wanted. You're like an oversized sniffer dog, trained to sniff out everyone else's problems, yet oblivious to your own.

For one you worry excessively. The fact that you're also incredibly sensitive to criticism probably has you on the verge of tears right now. Get a grip.

You have powers of manipulation unlike any other. You know all the gossip and you know how to ultimately use it as blackmailing material.

You could potentially be the ultimate evil villain... if not for the fact you choose to use all of your powers for good, rather than evil. How honourable. How admirable and praiseworthy. How pathetic. While you're helping others out and pushing them into the limelight, you're left in the background to inhale the dirty smoke of their success. Nice one.

People love to hate you, because you love to argue. The strange thing is you probably took that as a compliment. Why, I bet you've already got a witty comeback all lined up ready to throw right back at me.

What you don't realise is that your inane obsession with debating pisses everyone off. Whatever happened to us all trying to get alone? I mean, you're so annoying people disagree with you for the damn sake of it! NOBODY cares about your abundant opinions. Trust me.

Believe it or not, but there's more to life than your expansive knowledge and sharp repertoire. When was the last time you showered? Brushed your teeth?

While you're up in Nevernever land, getting excited over future possibilities and your crazy theories, WE have to put up with your awful stench. I can smell you from here.

Your personality is ideal for that of a future lawyer and because everyone already hates you, you have nothing to lose.
