More poison from Choudary :
A RADICAL Muslim cleric has sparked outrage by claiming Britain?s war dead have been sent to hell.
Sheikh Anjem Choudary, the leader of Islam4UK, also dismissed the two world wars as having no purpose.
As the country prepares for Remembrance Day, the British-born former law student delivered a hate-filled rant insulting the memory of the millions who laid down their lives in the name of freedom.
He said: ?We have a different understanding of wars.
?The wars which are fought for nationalism, tribalism and land, I feel, need to be condemned. When we fight, it?s to please God or to defend our honour, not land. We are not allowed to feel sorry for any non-Muslim nation.
?Those nationalistic wars served no purpose and we cannot praise any of those who were involved in them.
?Anything that happens to those non-Muslims is a punishment from God. As a Muslim I have to believe they died and went to hell fire.? His comments were attacked yesterday by ex-soldiers and veterans? groups.
Joe Hoadley, 86, who served with the 49th Reconnaissance Regiment during the 1944 D-Day landings, said the rant was ?shameful?.
Mr Hoadley, of Swanscombe, Kent, said: ?This man sounds like a crank. Anyone who says this sort of thing is nothing short of stupid and he doesn?t deserve to be given a moment?s notice. I lost a lot of good friends during the Second World War and unless you were there, you can never fully appreciate what we went through.?
Annabelle Fuller, of the Army Benevolent Fund, a charity which provides support for soldiers and their families, said: ?These comments are incredibly offensive. They are an affront to the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect this country and others. That includes many Muslims. As for the wars serving no purpose, the Second World War, in particular, was of key importance in securing freedom for Europe against the Nazis.
We would hope that the public continue their support for the Poppy Appeal and the work our forces do and treat these words with the contempt they deserve.?
Conservative MP Patrick Mercer, who served in Northern Ireland and Bosnia, called on New Scotland Yard to look into Choudary?s comments.
He said: ?This is another disgusting outburst that does nothing but stoke up the forces of jihad. The police ought to investigate this because I think it?s gone beyond mere propaganda and suspect it has become a crime.
?There is little doubt that Islam4UK is part of a conveyor belt of terrorism.
?These comments are all the more insensitive at a time when we are preparing to honour our war dead.?
