    I went and saw it last night. Twas lovely light entertainment, if you enjoy seeing Nazis machine-gunned. I kinda do. Don't much like Nazis. parrot

    Oh yeah saw it in the cinema when it came out. Loved it though it was the most disturbing Tarantino film I've ever seen (and I've seen them all and they're all pretty disturbing in their own ways). But there was this realism about it, the whole nazi regime thing, is just very distasteful and painful even though I think Tarantino did an awesome job. I think I'll actually buy the DVD, I liked it that much. I totally fell in love with Brad Pitt's character, he's so good in the hands of a talented director.

    Pitt was good but Cristoph Waltz did an awesome job too. He was very believable, although I doubt any sane person would fall in love with him. In fact all the main characters were well acted.

    Oh yessss that guy was CREEEEEEEEPY and yet by the end, he was disturbingly somewhat endearing... frakkin Tarantino knows how to do character development like nobody else.  Cheesy I don't want to spoil it for people who haven't seen it, but the ending was so satisfying. Now I want to go see it again. It was a tough one to sit through though, wasn't it? I mean, production wise it was beautiful, but the subject matter and some scenes were hard to stomach.

    Well I didn't find him endearing at all. I would cheerfully have knocked his nuts off with a blunt chisel. I actually thought Shoshonna was the most likable character of the lot, especially when she gets on the warpath. The final scenes were fukn awesome.

    Oh and the dude playing Hitler made me think of those Youtube pisstake vids that are all the rage at the moment. I'll never be able to take Hitler seriously again after seeing those.  grin12

    Ha, well he was endearing in a way to me that his gruesome death would have been perfectly justified,  but firstly, the performance of the actor was just unforgettable, and that made me *understand* where this guy was coming from. He was a coward and an opportunist, and while those aren't admirable qualities, they're comprehensible human characteristics. Makes the nazi more human than just a killing machine. Makes his intentions, his motivations, his fears more real than thinking of him as just an automaton. It's the anthropologist in me.

    Oh I did like Shoshanna's character.... loved the ending with her... I think I was in tears at that point.

    Yeah, the casting for Hitler was great Smiley Also, who can think of a crazy concept like a "Bear Jew"? Tarantino!

    Yeah of course it's entertainment, and I enjoyed it as such, but I have studied the rise and fall of the Third Reich in too much detail for it to ever be just entertainment. But I'll watch Tarantino's stuff even if it's an infomercial because it'll be the funnest infomercial ever.

    I don't think it was"just" entertainment. I'd rate it higher than that. My OP was not meant to be read literally.

    The creepiest part was how viciously he was behaving just before he decided to turn around and betray his side... I mean, the guy was a total sociopath. One minute he's bludgeoning someone, next minute, he's ready to play for the other side.  wacko

    I was just happy to see Tarantino finally getting off his ass and making a proper Tarantino movie again. I liked the Kill Bill series a lot, but I thought it was a little too moralistic and preachy. This was more of a return to his Pulp Fiction/Reservoir Dogs feel.

    Oh, you know what I loved? the POODLE!!! in my cinema it was like 3 meters x 3 meters square:)

    Kill Bill was cool but it was much like an extended version of From Dusk Til Dawn. Great fun, some awesome characters and shots, but basically just an excuse for a good time.

    Didn't get to see a ten foot poodle in my cinema but Julie Dreyfus was looking hot.

    I saw once when it first came out a month+ ago, and then again last week in a small town in the middle of Africa. The Second time, the theater was small, the film had already run so many times it had those white hair/sprites imperfection all over the screen, the sound was crap, bass too low, treble too high. It was absolutely the most perfect theater to go watch this movie into. I am tempted to go watch it a Third time in that dink theater before i leave here. I might never get to the chance to watch such a perfect combination between movie & theater again.

    I had to think really hard to figure out/remember what are you talking about. It is such a small scene and I can not believe you remembered it. By that logic, it is much more likely that he has a choking fetish and/or a scalping fetish. Anyways, good to see you back perv Smiley
