Ha, well he was endearing in a way to me that his gruesome death would have been perfectly justified, but firstly, the performance of the actor was just unforgettable, and that made me *understand* where this guy was coming from. He was a coward and an opportunist, and while those aren't admirable qualities, they're comprehensible human characteristics. Makes the nazi more human than just a killing machine. Makes his intentions, his motivations, his fears more real than thinking of him as just an automaton. It's the anthropologist in me.
Oh I did like Shoshanna's character.... loved the ending with her... I think I was in tears at that point.
Well he was a bit more than that. I mean he enjoyed his work. Really liked it. He got off on power over other people. So yeah, blunt chisel.
