    Rant Time:

    This is what really winds me up. A Muslim woman decides that she no longer believes in the faith and she gets a whole load of abuse and people getting angry and upset at her! Its her own decision what she believes in and it has got nothing to do with anyone else.

    This is the reason why myself and many other members here find it so difficult to tell the people closest to us what we really believe in, because of this reaction, and probably even worse. According to Islam, munafiqs are worse than the kuffar, but Muslims have shown time and time again that they would prefer it if we remained munafiqs.

    If someone was an active member of the Christian, Jewish, Atheist, Agnostic, or whatever Religious On-line community, then turns to Islam. I'm quite convinced that they will be abused, and harrassed. As the community will similarly feel they have been 'misled' and let down. It's easy to make assumptions that the person was 'fake' all along, a 'munafiq', and these thoughts usually lead to attacks.

    Also it's a similar case of what some 'reverts to Islam' experience. I've heard an awful lot of how they have a difficult time dealing with family, some disown them, and most friends leave them, when they hear they've 'reverted' to Islam.
    For those who understand, no explanation is necessary. For those who refuse to understand, no explanation is possible.

    Hello Kim..... Well why you are telling everyone about you leaving Islam i can only see you want attention if that's all you want then no one will ever accept you as a friend because people don't like attention seekers. I don't ever think you was a Muslim as you don't even know what the Qur'an says.... the Qur'an says punishment then reward straight after each other so when ever hell is mentioned then so is paradise so that's where your wrong. you are only a human being like myself and its hard to know what is true and what is false as you don't know anything only God knows. why you are saying your agnostic when you are kuffar and if you died tonight Insh'Allah then you would be punished in the hellfire so GOOD LUCK, i am a convert also but i love Islam..... I would never leave Islam because i wish for paradise like my brothers and sisters in the true deen of Islam.

    I and you know, those 'death threats' she received are empty, and posted by people who are pissed off, and allowed their emotions to get the better of them.

    And that wasn't my point. My point was in both cases, the person who leaves to join another community, will be attacked.

    But I do agree with you, it's unlikely they will receive any death threats, compared to those received by people leaving Islam.

    These death threats are codified in the hadith. 

    So whether or not they are real, its not something someone should be at the receiving end off for being rude, ignorant, attention seeking  (whatever you accuse her off) or not believing in the same invisible being as you do. 

    Why do you think this does not happen to the same intensity in other religions?
