    I agree trumora, there are some sisters who are supportive of Kim's decision, but there are a few who actually make me feel uneasy my damn self. Eh, I wouldn't so much as lay low, but I'd change my user names. It makes it easier for these crazies to find you.

    I find it a bit hypocritical that some of you are trying to argue with the Muslim posters about Islam and discredit or disprove their beliefs. As an atheist, I'm sure you're sick of people always trying to do the same by trying to "prove" that God is real. Why can't you just accept that this is what some people believe, and leave it at that?

    And as for the Muslims posting about Kim, what does her decision to not be a Muslim anymore have to do with you? I'd think there's much more important things going on in the world right now and in your lives than some girl on the internet who made videos once in a while..

    Kinda defeats the purpose of schools then doesn't it? I mean, some people are massively ignorant about science, and much rather cling on to superstitions. So why not leave it at that? It's just what some people believe.  Tongue

    What's hypocritical about that?  We don't share their beliefs so why wouldn't we argue against them?

    Obviously I was talking about religion. I just don't see the point in constantly attacking other people over why they believe in Islam and how it makes them "naive"..

    Well do you see the point in constantly correcting a person that believes in human exorcism over psychiatric treatment of Schizophrenic patients?

    Just because you don't share someone's beliefs doesn't mean you should start in on people and argue "against them".  Islam is just as much a belief as Atheism is.

    Islam pretends to be the truth, but has no evidence.  Atheism has no evidence either way and doesn't pretend to.  Therefore, atheists have every right to challenge those who claim to preach the "truth."

    I think you missed some points on the whole discussion on this thread. People started arguing when others also were. I think if you are a Muslim and you enter a forum for former Muslims you kinda know what to expect. Most of the time Islam was used to break Muslim's argments e.g. talking about the girls life X the islamic rules on gossip.

    that really depends. some people use it as a belief system. I knew an atheist girl who was always talking about it, reading about it and when she talked to me sounded like she was trying to "convert" me. (no, I've had nice healthy arguments with atheists before... that was not the case). I think some people have a tendency to be radical on anything. even food.

    Absolutely. I couldn't agree more--I too have seen annoying atheists like that. But the difference is that it's the people making it out to be a set of beliefs. Atheism by definition is not a set of beliefs. It's the exact opposite.

    Although I do admit there are annoying Atheists like your friend that you mentioned, it should be noted that there is a distinction between when a person constantly talks about it in order to bring you to their side (like a salesman) when the subject of the conversation does not even pertain to religion, and when an Atheist tries to prove a point when the subject does pertain to religion.

    Yes, I agree. Many people can't see the difference. You can have conversations with people without necessarily trying to make them believe in what you believe in. I've loved the arguments I had with my atheist friends (the healthy ones, not crazy wacko lady) as I learned a lot. But I still believe in my "imaginary friend" and they don't. And we are cool with that.

    If you hear an Atheist say that, distrust them--or punch em in the face. Either way, they are wrong. The truth is, we can't know if there is a god or not (also that the existence of god is very improbable), so we have no reason to subscribe to any belief of a personal god.

    I am an atheist, and that means I lack belief in any deity.  It isn't a positive belief, its a lack of one.  Calling atheism a belief is like calling bald a hair colour.

    Very true. But in Islam and Christianity's case, it does hurt non-believers. Not the actual believes themselves, but the believers that carry out the orders from the Quran and the Bible when they take it literally.

    As you may or may not have noticed, we don't hate god believers. We question them to engage in thought provoking convos. but we don't hate them--and we certainly don't try to turn them in to Atheism or Agnosticism. Only time when we may appear to be harsh is when we have Muslim members here spewing hate all over the forum.
