What really gets me about awrah and namaz is that although a woman is supposed to pray in the deepest, darkest closet in her house she STILL has to cover up!  WTF!

When I prayed regularly with my husband, although I accepted the fact that I had to put on hijab in order to do namaz I absolutely REFUSED to stand behind him as I felt that I was praying to the ballsack in front of me instead of Allah therefore I stipulated that as long as we did namaz together I would stand beside him as his equal and he didn't argue with me on this.  Probably because he was afraid of the repercussions if he did.

Allah is most insecure indeed if he requires a woman to completely cover herself up in shame and in the deepest, darkest hole in her house (excluding the toilet, of course) in order for her prayer to be valid.  wacko

Go on - explain why this particular code of conduct is stipulated..

Because the scholars said so!  Isn't that enough for you!  Don't question them! That is bad adaab!  Haraam!  Stop!  Don't ask questions!

And how do you know what makes a prayer 'valid' ?

The scholars have assured us what does and doesn't make a prayer acceptable to big Al.  Listen to them!  Don't question the scholars.

    (LOL)

Yes. Al'Naql takes precedence over Al'Aql.

Actually this is a very powerful argument to use against the 'scientific' community of Muslims- can anyone confirm if this is true or not, and if it comes out of the quran?

I agree. I see Muslim converts jumping in thinking that they can 'do their own thing' or 'practice a more reformed minded Islam' but the reality is that Islam, like any other religion, is a communal practice.

LOL, don't lay that at the feet of converts.  It's the second generation ones that are at the forefront of "reforming Islam", probably because of the whole "Islam is our heritage" thing clashes with the "praying 5 x a day makes you look like a dork at work" and "wearing hijab is kind of not very convenient and sort of freaky looking" stuff.

Besides, jumuah aside, there are plenty of Muslims who practice in a solitary fashion.  I almost never went into a masjid (for a lot of reasons).

    @ Islame

I don't believe it comes out of the Qu'ran.

    Rather from Ijma.

Also I don't see how using this argument would be relevant to the Scientific Muslim Community. I believe it refers to the compilation of Islamic Jurisprudence.

    I understand that.

But I don't have a Religion. When you said, "its just that one of your muslim brothers", it implies a brother in faith.

I actually just came across a Muslim womans blog post about the issue. All they can come up with is that yes, you have to cover up while praying alone, but why if God is neither man nor woman. Oh well - guess it'll be one of life's great mysteries.

lol great link. There is a stark irony in that the Islamic laws that Saudi imposes on its people to try curtail haram sex acts is actually causing them to commit haram in the form of homosexuality. Guess that time they should have actually had self-control, my bad  Cheesy

No, I mean. When praying alone alone... By herself... No other women around, nor kids, nor pets... She still expected to wear Hijab, why?

Unless you meant she gets attracted to herself, and stops praying and maybe starts masturbating... Cheesy

LOL. I like sexual humour. She would need to be praying in front of a mirror 4 that. I think it is quite patent though the Abrahamic God does exhibit some form of masculinity mainly because it 'he' was invented by men so I guess it is another form of control for women to be modest whilst the men are not there. That and maybe its seen as a sign of humility for women in the sight of God which is explained by the previous sentence lol.

I totally agree on that. Or else why would men be allowed to pray in shorts and bare chest on the beach for example? In north Africa where I live, during the summer time, it is very common to see groups of men and teenage boys praying on the beach with their swiming shorts (not slips, though), some might put a towel around their waist, but for women, it is even out of the question to even be seen praying on the beach.

Tell me this religion was not invented by Men!

QUESTION : I would like to know if Muslim women have to wear hijab during prayers at home? The purpose of hijab is to cover my body in front of men. When I?m at home by myself, I don?t see the need to wear hijabs during salah because there are no men around. Someone told me that this is incorrect. Can you please clarify?

ANSWER : Yes, we do have to wear hijab during salah ? even if we are praying at home alone. Allah says in verse 7:31 : ?O Children of Adam! Wear your beautiful apparel at every time and place of prayer??

From that ayah, it is clear that we must wear our apparel no matter where or when we are performing salah. And of course when it comes to Muslim women, our apparel is hijab as described in the Qur?an and sound hadiths.

Allah knows best. Please don?t hesitate to correct me if I?m wrong.

What kills me is male idiots like Mawdudi who crow on about how a woman has to cover her head, even inside her own home at all times!  Surely this is very unhealthy for the hair, scalp and can lead to conditions like rickets (which many Afghan women suffer from, esp during the Taliban years).

Nour:  "What kills me is male idiots like Mawdudi who crow on about how a woman has to cover her head, even inside her own home at all times!"

Greetings and my good wishes to you dear Nour., This fellow, THIS ROGUE .. THIS BEARDED MUSLIM FOOL Mr.  Syed Abul A'ala Maududi, who was born in central India and migrated to Pakistan in 40s  is worst of all Muslims that were born/forced to become Muslim or became Muslim to save their property in the Indian subcontinent.   Mawdudi, was a Sunni Pakistani journalist, theologian, Muslim revivalist Leader and political philosopher, and a major 20th century Islamist thinker  He was also a prominent political figure in his home country (Pakistan). He was also the founder of Jamaat-e-Islami the Islamic revivalist party

Thanks to  his STUPID ISLAMIC PREACHINGS coupled to  Politics, whole Indian subcontinent is reeling under Islamic Violence and it goes all the way to Indonesia  or wherever THESE MUSLIM BABOONS that come out his preachings go including African continent .. Europe  and US of A.   He is directly responsible for the news like this one reads quite often in Muslim community

    http://www.thedailystar.net/newDesign/news-details.php?nid=123248

"Eight months after being raped, a 16-year-old at Khargor of Kasba upazila in Brahmanbaria had to receive 101 lashes as "punishment".  A village arbitration found her guilty and issued the 101 lashes fatwa (religious edict) but amazingly left alleged rapist Enamul Mia, 20, untouched.

The arbitration also fined the victim's father Tk 1,000 and issued another fatwa that her family would be forced into isolation if he failed to pay up. Village matbar (local leader) Delwar Hossain alias Ullashi executed the durra (lashes) on January 17.

Family sources said Enamul Mia of Gabbari used to eve-tease the girl on her way to Sathgram Advocate Haroon-or-Rashid High School. He raped her April last year. Fearing the shame, the girl did not disclose the incident.

The girl's family had married her off to a man of neighbouring Ghatiara village but after a month into the marriage medical test discovered she was seven months pregnant.

She was divorced and she had to live at her father's place after an abortion. Following her return, a group of so-called matbars led by Manik Mia declared that her family is to be isolated until punished.

On January 17, the influential group arranged the arbitration at the yard of the victim.

At one stage of the inhuman torture, the girl collapsed and fainted. She regained her sense after two hours. "

And that news is from Bangladesh in 21st century..

    with best wishes
