What I find particularly repulsive is this :

I do not know if P.C. has a daughter, but if he does, what has she done ?

Reminds me of that case in Pakistan where a young boy had offended a family and in retaliation they gang banged his sister.

What's with all the race stuff in the comments anyway? Did he say anything about race?

He is just the opposite end of the extreme....and I despise people who are extreme at ANYTHING.

I don't think he's the opposite end of extreme to the extremists. The extremists propagate cruelty to people, and often implicate or use violence. As long as Pat Condell doesn't do that, and he never does that, he is not as bad as them.

If he is trying to be another George Carlin, then he should stop because he has become more like an angry preacher than anything else.

That could be why he incites such nasty comments. The way he comes over, like a pyschotic grumpy old man, it's his own fault, but I have a feeling he's very thick skinned, and would need to be.

My hunch (because one of the comments dares him to visit Birmingham) is that the comment is written by a Pakistani or Muslim of an ethnic minority who has racist feelings towards white people in general, so it becomes an instinctive, reflex racist response to attack a persons ethnicity.

The more ex-muslims and people of muslim heritage speak out the more difficult it will become for these intellectual thugs to try to hide behind racism everytime their religion is criticised.

Precisely, but the problem is that apostacy carries the death sentence according to the hadith, so I think it is important that others speak out too

I personally believe that we will see, within our lifetime, a critical point at which the fear and sensitivity of the concept of "apostasy" that has terrorised us for 14 centuries simply dissappear. I think it's a matter of time as more people vote with their feet and leave the faith and/or speak out against it that Muslims will become used to it and accept it as a reality that they can no longer answer with violence.

At least in the west, anyways.

I dont - I think we will all be wiped out before that happens.  A nuclear war caused by the feeling of injustice Islamic countries (like Iran) feel towards the rest of the world is what will sadly mark the end of the human race.

The more it is talked about, the more 'apostates' stories are told, the more that this aspect of Islam is brought to light, the quicker that will happen.

I hope you are right, inshallah.

I prefer a intellectual discourse but each to their own. But it still doesn't excuse the foul comments left on his site. Islam is very much part of culture, particularly for the Indians and Pakistanis, hence the reaction. It really is something that makes them different.

When you say it is something that makes them different, do you mean, it makes them different from other Muslims?

Islam in Britain is, because of sheer numbers, influenced and swayed most by Pakistani Islam, and it is a very febrile, insecure, paranoid and hyper-sensitive identity.

    So? Thats still not 'race'.
Saying I hate Southern Slave culture in early America, as an example, does that make me racist against white people who live in the south? I think the Catholic church is a disgusting institution, that doesnt make me racist against Italians. Can I be anti communist without being 'racist' against North Korean culture? Is being against castes or saying that the Baga Vita is not real racist against South Asians?
So what if its a culture, its still not 'race', and I'm just sick of the word being used that way, as it 1) makes the term lose its meaning 2) distracts from actual racism 3) is used to try a crush any criticism of stone age ideologies.
Neo-Nazis, might as well just start screaming about how its 'their German culture', so I'm racist for saying its ugly

I have to agree with that. The problem is that racists sometimes hide behind criticism of stone age ideologies. That doesn't mean the criticism is unwarranted though.

I am not justifying it - hey I think we should be allowed to criticise races too as long as they are being intellectually honest.
I am just describing how they feel, its a common psychological response to someone who has an inferiority complex

    Homer is spot on.

"Culture" is usually a very nebulous idea anyways. Certain cultures involve some very ugly practices and ethical values. And frankly anything that involves ideas and social practices is valid of criticism. Giving sanctity to ideas like 'culture' is frankly ridiculous. Cultures are not inherent parts of individuals and their rights the way race is. Cultures and traditions are very malleable and have changed throughout history, they are not set in stone or an intrinsic part of any people or persons.

True enough, I believe in 100% free speech, to include the rights of the KKK to speak their minds. I am confident enough in my own position, and the falsehood of theirs.

    ADD ON:
Let me quickly clarify my stance on culture; it is a human creation. As such, it should be treated as one. We should constantly try and improve culture, with another goal of building on a universal human culture (I'm of the belief that all human cultures belong to me and you, as I'm a human). 'Traditionalism' in culture is nothing more than anti human progress and sectarianism.

Can't see how communism has anything to do with the culture of North Korea any more than what it has to do with that of China.  Communism is a political ideology not a culture.

But Carlin did not focus all his attention on one thing, he focused his attention on EVERYTHING.

Society, social behaviour, family, religion, politics, animals, life, death, business....

and he was never wrong on that, in fact he had passion and was always a well researched man.
