Intro (female host): "For people who think that in the name of religion they can justify terrorism and incite hatred, this story has advice for them. Lucknow's qazi (priest) has generated a fatwa against Zakir Naik. Naik and Osama bin Laden share similar ideologies."
News (male voiceover): "Zakir Naik, of "PeaceTV" in India, is considered an Islamic authority. But he's been accused of teetering close to Bin Laden's thinking in his extreme points of view. But what do the people think to whom he is speaking (Muslims)? A Qazi from the city of Lucknow has issued a fatwa."
Qazi: "We had a discussion between many groups of Muslims, both Shia and Sunni, about Naik's ridiculous ideas. Among the offensive things he's said is that we should pray to Allah for the murderer of Hussain, Yazid, to be forgiven. Yazid was a cruel, corrupt, alcoholic, gambler, who wanted to legalize incest (with mothers and sisters)."
voiceover: "The Maulana (Qazi) says that terrorism is among the world's biggest problems. And that it is due to the terrorists that the world views Muslims with suspicion. In this context, by promoting Bin Laden's views, Naik is actually promoting terrorism with his words."
Qazi: "Sure there's a concept of Jihad, but if you go and attack someone's home, go and blow up a bomb somewhere, blow up a train, this is all against Islam. In many places, many people are doing these things in the name of Islam, it's all fear-mongering (terrorism). Fear-mongering is different from Jihad, which is for the sake of Allah. And even so, it's not up to just anyone to go and wage Jihad."
voiceover: "It's not only the Shias who are supporting the fatwa against Naik. Sunnis are split on the issue, some are for it and some against. No matter the sects, this fatwa has sparked a new debate on the matter. And it has further confirmed that terrorism doesn't have any 1 religion."
I think I got the gist of it there.
