That's actually quite a cool app. If you believe in that sort of stuff that is.   whistling2

I also think that guy is kinda okay, he's struggling with the english but I see no beard. So he must not give a fuck about sunnah.

Lack of beard doesn't indicate anything. There are many Muslims who follow the Sunnah closely without having beard.

For those who understand, no explanation is necessary. For those who refuse to understand, no explanation is possible.

Considering that beards are wajid in the four sunni madhabs, your point is moot claiming it doesn't indicate anything.

There is a difference of opinion amongst the Scholars whether it's a Sunnah or obligation.

It is unanimously considered to be an obligation. I have never ever heard of anyone saying that it is not obligatory.

You're correct, the four imams established the rule, and due to the notion of taqlid, scholars today cannot over turn those original rulings - only tweak around the edges.

You can thank the doors of itijihad in the 10th century as to why Islam is impossible to reform in its current state.

no, a moustache is the hairy bit above your lip.  Also its sunnat to shave off the moustache, and have a hairy chin i.e. the opposite..

Only if you selectively jump to the reason before understanding what is required; explicitly stated that it has to be a beard with the moustache trimmed, and the beard itself to be at least as long as one fist. The reason why given by scholars - to shave is to imitate females and thus fall into the sin for which Lut was destroyed.

If Turkish men are going to be that liberal in their view (or should I say selective) then they might as well be completely clean shaven.

Btw, I hate people who have those pathetic moustaches that are the equivalent of bum fluff on the lip - if you can't grow a moustache (that so many asians think they can a moustache, but ends up coming out like bum fluff on the upper lip), then give up whilst you're ahead and have a shave - or otherwise you'll like like Zakir Naik; an uncivilised bush pig.

Saddam Hussein had a moustache, too. And Gaddafi has a moustache. And Erdogan. And Ali Zardari has a moustache. And the king of Malaysia has a moustache. And the prime minister of Malaysia has a moustache. Oh, and Mahmud Abbas has a moustache.

tbh I dont blame them - most leaders worth their intellectual salt try not to overemulate the religious leaders, deep down in an advanced nations subconscious is that its not what they want.  In any case a fist length beard (like the prophet had) looks ridiculous!

btw why do some muslims have longer beards when the sunnat is fist length?

See, all those muslim political leader had moustaches. So had Hitler and Stalin.

There are only two possible explanations:

    a) Islam teaches to have moustaches, which means Islam is evil
    b) Islam teaches not to have moustaches, which means Islam means peace and democracy.

    Which one is it?

Muhammad did not have a fist length beard, his beard was down to his chest.

The whole idea of the fist length is the minimum allowed (if possible), and this comes from a hadith where one of the sahaba used to trim his beard to the length of a fist.

    Is that a Hadith?

Here are some gems courtesy of Sahih Bukhari.

    Quote
    Volume 7, Book 72, Number 780:
    Narrated Nafi':

Ibn Umar said, The Prophet said, 'Do the opposite of what the pagans do. Keep the beards and cut the moustaches short.' Whenever Ibn 'Umar performed the Hajj or 'Umra, he used to hold his beard with his hand and cut whatever moustaches. Ibn Umar used to cut his moustache so short that the whiteness of his skin (above the upper lip) was visible, and he used to cut (the hair) between his moustaches and his beard.

    Quote
    Volume 7, Book 72, Number 781:
    Narrated Ibn 'Umar:

Allah's Apostle said, "Cut the moustaches short and leave the beard (as it is)."

    Quote
    Volume 9, Book 93, Number 651:
    Narrated Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri:

The Prophet said, "There will emerge from the East some people who will recite the Qur'an but it will not exceed their throats and who will go out of (renounce) the religion (Islam) as an arrow passes through the game, and they will never come back to it unless the arrow, comes back to the middle of the bow (by itself) (i.e., impossible). The people asked, "What will their signs be?" He said, "Their sign will be the habit of shaving (of their beards). (Fateh Al-Bari, Page 322, Vol. 17th)

And some gems from Sahih Muslim:

    Quote
    Book 002, Number 0502:
'A'isha reported: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be npon him) said: Ten are the acts according to fitra: clipping the moustache, letting the beard grow, using the tooth-stick, snuffing water in the nose, cutting the nails, washing the finger joints, plucking the hair under the armpits, shaving the pubes and cleaning one's private parts with water. The narrator said: I have forgotten the tenth, but it may have been rinsing the mouth.

And those stupid orange beards you see around:

    Quote
    Book 030, Number 5780:
Ibn Sirin reported: I asked Anas b. Malik whether Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) dyed his hair. He said: He had not reached the stage when (he needed) dyeing (of his white hair). He had a few white hair in his beard. I said to him: Did Abu Bakr dye his hair? He said: Yes, with hina' (henna).

    Oh what marvelous wisdom!
