  • Another email from my religious relative
     OP - December 16, 2009, 04:29 AM

He keeps sending me emails similar to this one: (translations are in [])

    Quote
    Salam-alaikum, brother ***.
Yar, kaisay ho? [How're you mate?], How's college? I'm doing well.
B4 sayin good-byes, i must request/plead you that please be regular on Salaat [prayers / namaaz] and tilaawat [recitation of koran].
I'll get in touch again, insha'Allah.
    May Allah bless.
    Asalam-aliakum.

He's about... 21 and keeps a beard and listens to zakir naik. And keeps bugging me to start saying prayers everytime he sees me. I haven't officially told anyone that I'm an athiest but they all pretty much know from my actions :p

Hmm, just tell him that you are currently getting more questions than answers and that you need some time alone or something. Or if he keeps on annoying you over and over and won't stop, just tell him to leave you alone. Sorry if my advice is shitty Cry

Be super-blunt: "You are not to interfere on matter between my god and myself. I do not like nor appreciate how you approach your god, yet you do not see me interfering on matters between yourself and your god, asking you to shave and to stop treating women in your surrounding like the shit of the earth"

    Is that blunt enough?

Baal is right on this one. My advice to you Liberated. Just be direct, do not be afraid to be blunt and straight up to them. If your friend harrasses you if he finds you do not believe anymore, tell him to go fuck himself. To be honest, if he found out you are not Muslim, I don't think he would be friends with you anymore. Most people who leave Islam, their old muslim friends ditch them.

    +1

Also you can use my line that always worked for me. I say please ask (doaa) god to bring faith on me, if god answers your prayer, tell them, then your sure you will be even more practicing than them. The ask him this: Allah answers prayers, right?

     Afro

    it always worked for me.

Some might say: but you have to work on it, like you start praying and Allah will lead you to the right path. I then say, but Allah has the will to show me the right path right away, and he knows exactly when my faith will be stronger, do you know more than Allah?... They stop bothering me at that stage.

I love to tease the Beardies.... Especially with Doua thingy. If I hear some one complains that our president or a neiboughring Arabic president that is described as a Dictator, I say: this must be in our best interest, as Mist devoted Muslims have prayed for our wellbeing and that president is the best Allah could do; so stop complaining and accept what Allah offered you.

My latest go on Doua, was about Jeda Floods, where I told some one that the Saudies must have over done it with their "Istisqa" prayesr to get rain. So Allah, replyied with a flood!

Notice I did not advice for you to declare apostasy to him. He is now worth learning about your personal choices.
