     OP - December 16, 2009, 05:11 AM
    The only times I've had alcohol was when I once took a  tiny sip of beer from a friend's glass last year just to try it (didn't like the taste, too bitter) and another time i had some brandy poured in my ice cream (again too bitter).  But I still haven't tasted pork.

    I think I'm perhaps going to stay non-alcoholic for life just because I think its more healthy, but I don't see any harm in eating pork.. although for some reason I'm still repulsed by the thought of eating pork.

    What has been your experience?

    Personally I think pork is the best tasting meat, bacon sandwiches, pork chops, roast pork, it's all so tasty.

    Beer is such a nasty drink to taste for your first drink, I would recommend trying something that actually tastes nice, like a malibu with pineapple, or some other mixer.

    I was with you til you said dark lagers, make mine anything but lager/beer, or gin and tonic vomit .

    I think it's because it was so haram once is why it tastes so nice to me now, haha infact most things that were haram are amongst my favourites now.  Tongue

    Go on liberated, you're not truly liberated until you conquer that islamic aversion to anything that was haram, liberation of the mind and body.  bunny

     Cheesy that makes it sound a lot more tempting. I think I am going to stay non-alcoholic just because I think its healthier, but I will put pork on my list of things to try next time I'm in Australia  dance

    Are tattoos actually haram in islam? I had no idea 'bout that...

    Start off trying some wine - red wine is usually the way to go, it is nice and flavoursome. Take it easy though, for someone starting off drinking a couple of glasses will make you tipsy.

    When you have a taste for it, try some Bailey's Irish cream, lovely for a beginner  Afro

    Tried wine, liked it better  Afro , went slightly tipsy that day, it was cool but not THAT cool.

    Yet haven't tried pork stuff. It is still a repulsive idea, will get over it probably sometime.

    Dude, just drink at home for the first time if you want to try it - just remember to take it easy and don't neck the drink back, sip it whilst listening to music or watching TV, and you'll slowly feel yourself feeling relaxed, easy-going and chilled.

    As for beer - you just have not tried a good one. Some lagers aren't good, but let me tell you, there is nothing better than an ice-cold beer on a hot day or just to kill the thirst in the evening. Try a mild ale - to get a taste of beer I would reccomend something frothy and light like Boddingtons if you live in the UK.

    I wasn't exactly tipsy, just a slight feeling it was my first time drinking, and tbh it is quite hard to explain.
    To put it simply you lose your shyness and embarrassment feeling, and feel like doing stuff you would never attempt doing when sober. At least that was what happened to me, as I am not sure if it was some sort of a fake feeling I subconsciously led myself to feel as a consequence of drinking.

    One of my guy friends once got drunk and then started to climb up a pole in a night club like a stripper  Cheesy. I suppose that would explain it

    I like mixers too, White Russian is a favorite, although I have been advised not to take this whilst in a club, for fear of having a bad breath when chatting up birds. And nobody wants that hahah Cheesy

    we've all forgotten to mention weed, now that my friend is liberating Cheesy hahaha

    The other day, I tasted a meat for the first time that was absolutely gorgeous! Ostrich! I got to get as many ostrich burgers I can before the German Market goes back to Germany!

    When I first tasted beer I despised it, but I soon got a taste for it. It is strange though. I mean everybody hates beer when they first try it, but why do people persevere until they like it?

    I have wondered the same thing, it's the same with smoking, those first few ciggies taste awful and make you choke, and yet persevere some do (me included).  wacko

    Yeah, it is really nice and lean meat.

    And as for the beer, I remember when I first tried it, I had a can of Fosters (which is disgusting anyway) and I couldn't drink it. But I was very image concious and didn't want to seem like a nancy boy and only drink spirits and mixers, so I carried on drinking beer. And now I love it. Probably my favourite drink along with cider.

    liberated- there are plenty of safe drugs that aren't very addictive (and plenty which are safer and less addictive then alcohol).

    You can drink/do (safe) drugs and still be healthy if you can control yourself. What's the point of trying to be boringly healthy if it means you cant have any fun? Tongue
