Wikipedia is very accurate mate, you need to give published & reliable sources for everything or its not added to Wikipedia.  I've been editing some stuff there so I know, their standards are pretty high for what sort of sources they accept

Not true - anyone can sign in to make changes without even requiring registration or an email address to be entered.

I found a circular reference between wiki and some internet cat magazine, which people used to make the Muezza cat story of the prophet cutting his garment to let it sleep look as if it were true.

    Here's the thread - http://www.councilofexmuslims.com/index.php?topic=4520.msg116685#msg116685

Yes, but when I search for Muezza to check if that cat hadith was true, it was standing their with that ridiculous circular reference for God knows how long.  How many less suspicious muslims would have simply accepted it if they agreed with what you just said about wiki?    Thankfully I did not see your way, and realised & changed it when I worked out it was false..

The reason for that is, the only people interested in that article are the muslims/ex-muslims. There are few ex-muslims using wikipedia. Most muslims were happy with the story as it was and didn't even need to research it, so it had stayed in for a while.

About the karbala article though, there will both shia and sunni editors fighting over the details, and I also think Karbala is a more important article and fetches more interest than the relatively lower-importance article about the cat.  So we can generally be sure that its more objective than most other sources on this topic.

I want someone to explain to me when Clerics recite their Qur'an - why the heck do they exaggerate the echo over the speaker system? in an attempt to make it sound grand and spooky?

I'm not sure exactly what you mean. But maybe you're speaking about Tarteel?

For those who understand, no explanation is necessary. For those who refuse to understand, no explanation is possible.

standard practice, though the Noha and Soz recitals are often VERY awesome from a musical/poetic point of view.

Muharram has started hasn't it? For some insane reason, some of my distant relatives have postponed wedding festivities because of it. Even though they might see it fit to go to the pictures or clubbing!

Nope; every time I hear it being recited there is a definite echo that is being exaggerated; heck, I remember hearing a pod cast where one can hear the obvious echo function being enabled then turned off once the speaker goes back to normal speech.

It's interesting how they achieve the sadness and chaos through a simple narration of a story, but it's obvious and really quite clever.

Remember, as shias they are all brainwashed into thinking that they are right in their beliefs and they will rise up against the kafirs etc etc

This is what I personally have observed as the mosque in Birmingham.

The mosque will be laced in black cloth so the mood is solemn. Songs of hassan are recited and glorified with praise from the congregation. You'll notice little kids reciting these songs and little kids cheering, plenty of salawaats to get the community in unity.

The narrator of the story will sit on the mimbar and talk in a very hushed voice, with calmness, almost hypnotising the listeners without realising it. Slowly the story becomes more emotive, mentioning the deaths of women, children babies, imams etc.

Then the big thing happens, whilst he is screaming and hitting his head and wailing 'ya hussein' the lights are dimmed so that the listeners are put into near hypnotic state. It's dark and all you see is the illuminated hand of hazrat abbas or the bloodstained shroud used to represent hussain. Its at this stage where the self beating occurs. EVERYONE is doing it and you almost feel ashamed for just standing there. I remember as a child I would try and make the loudest thump on my chest to compete with the adults. When you see 4 year olds wailing 'ya hussain' it's almost like peer pressure, you HAVE to join your community. Again remember, this is after the brainwashing since birth and after the Imam has put the crowd into such a suggestive mood.

    Be yourself.

Sounds similar to the Holy Roller" Christians who get worked up and start speaking in tongues and writhing on the floor. Same group dynamic and over the top emotions.

Devious, treacherous, murderous, neanderthal, sub-human of the West. bunny

The crucifixion is actually just confined to the Philippines as far as I know...
