MN is batshit insane and bloody nasty to boot. That's why we banned him. Why would they want him on the show?

Do you understand what we were debating about? We were debating ETHICS and Peter Singer is an expert on ethics

No, you were claiming that the embryo is able to feel pain at 24 weeks, hence all abortions past 10-15 weeks should be banned. And for that you presented that book as scientific evidence of the claim that the embryo is 24 weeks old.  This is what was asked:

    Quote
Can you offer scientific evidence that a fetus at 12 weeks is a feeling entity?  Please provide from a neutral, purely scientific source, and not an anti-abortion resource.

And this is what you said:
    Quote
I have a book here let me quote:
    <snip>  - Practical ethics By Peter Singer (p 142) (Edition: 2, revised Published by Cambridge University Press, 1993 - ISBN 052143971X, 9780521439718)

Were you too stupid to know that this wasn't a neutral, 3rd party scientific source or were you just trying to mislead us?

And I am withholding judgement until there's more evidence. But even if I'm a theist it has nothing to do with the topic at hand. You can personally believe in fairies and unicorns and still be accepting of the scientific method, unless you say that fairies are a scientific theory and should be taught in science books, which is not what I'm saying.

What does abortion have to do with this topic, it seems its fine if you are presenting red-herring but not OK when someone else does it

Any child can tell that a book about ethics is not a scientific source. I linked to that topic to show your views about women and your enormous amount of scientific knowledge.

    Hi everybody,

I am "M7md7atem". My name is Mohammed and I'm an ex-Muslim atheist. I'm 23 and I live in the UK.
I have received a Youtube message from Ayesha which included a link to this forum.

Now Ms Tariq, thank you for contacting me. I really like the idea of the proposed show. I am willing to participate and share my story and views. However, I don't think I will be able to show my face or use my full name. While I have "come out" to my immediate family and some close friends, I still feel it's not a good idea to fully go public.
My father and mother have been very understanding about the issue and reacted much better than I expected them to, however, I strongly believe that they will be quite disappointed if not outraged if I were to be featured as an atheist in the program. Even though they were liberal enough to accept the fact that they're only son is an apostate, I don't think they would be fine with the whole world knowing it.

I hope you understand. And I want everybody to know that I am not declining for fear for my life or anything like that because that would be cowardice and I am not a coward. It's just consideration for my family who have been very supportive to me all my life. I would definitely hurt and "shame" them. At least that's how they would see it.
Moreover, It pains me to not be able to participate. I've always wanted to challenge the stereotype that everyone named Mohammed is a pious Muslim. I want to show the British public and the whole world that there are Arab atheists and secular Muslims.

I will send you an email so that you can correspond with me. Please don't hesitate to contact me and I will be more than happy to help in any way possible.

Ayesha is no longer involved with the project. A new reporter is now in charge or something. I was out of the UK until the about 10 days ago and when I got back I called like 3 times but nobody answered. I also left messages. Now that you reminded me, maybe I'll give them a call tomorrow.

Well, I gave an interview, a pilot one, but I didn't turn up to the final recordings. There was no way I was appearing, however difficult the editing is - especially when having a strong opinions as an ex-Muslim. They will try and voice some comments over, and that's the last I heard. Good on them for trying to undertake this show though. Good journalism.

Apparently there will be a converted Anglo-Saxon Mohammed from Sommerset ... will be an interesting show!

I fear it will all be dawah-lite that the BBC specialises in regarding Islam so often.

I was wondering - do BBC pay fees for shows like this, or just cover travel expenses?

I think this sounds like B.S, they're only going to have a bunch of converted Mohammeds and present this documentary as a 'islam is growing really fast' kind of bullshit program. If an ex muslim is given any airtime it will probably be little and edited. i would love to be proven wrong.

I think its B.S as well and the BBC wouldn't have the guts to air something like this anyway. (showing Muslim apostasy in the UK)

Yeah, like I said, it could well just be a typical dawah-lite production by the BBC.

I think they do but in my case it was close by anyway (to where I spend my working hour days).

The thing was, if I didn't appear on the show, or at least my hands/hair/etc, it would be hard to edit for them. I may also come across as a victim, though I think this is the case anyway.

Though, I do wonder about the impact some of my comments (e.g. Islam is a terrible meme that needs eradicating through education, not sure if I said it that harsh but it was among those lines) would cause social unrest.

If they include those comments without spinning them, report them as straighforwardly as they include any other of the usual types of comments about religion of peace etc etc, I'd pay my respects to the BBC.

I wouldn't worry too much about Mohammad being second most popular - that has more to do with Muslim parents being incredibly unoriginal than with an increase in the number of Muslims. Funny how he's so revered, when he'd be considered a fucking prick if he existed today (the word "terrorist" springs to mind). That reminds me of another question I always like to ask Muslims: if Mohammad existed in the present, would you believe a word of what he had to say? Always makes them think. Strange how people can readily accept the absurd, provided they're told it was a few thousand years ago. Is there a name for that? I like to call it the "olden days" effect - the further back in time your story is, the more inanity you can get away with.

That's a really good point that I've wondered about before but I never materialized that thought...

I'm gonna try it out on my Muslim mate

Did anyone asked this person why "diversity" is necessarily something to be "celebrated"?
