  • Can you believe this (Me and scientologists)
     OP - December 18, 2009, 02:20 AM

I was in the city, waiting for a friend who was going to come down from Manchester to see me, it was freezing so I decided to head-off to the library, on my way there I was approached by two women who asked me if I knew anything about Scientology, normally I ignore anyone on the streets canvassing, but the whole Scientology thing in my head was like ok this should be interesting, so I told them I know little bits about Scientology then they asked me if I would be interested in learning more about it and how it could help me, and make me more successful, to cut the long story short, they asked me if I had 5 minutes to come into their office which was just round the street I needed to kill time so I said yes sure, anyway we went in and they asked me about my faith, I told them I am an atheist, and they asked me if I did not mind to fill out this sheet, on education level and job-title, and age so I did they started talking to me asking me what I did for a living what my hobbies were etc, just normal stuff they told me about them self how many kids they had, blah, blah - then they started talking about Scientology and awesome it was and how I'll me able to make lots of money just by clear thinking, and this booklet they had would help me,

anyway in the end they offered me the booklet and then fucking told me it costs ?15 pounds from the start I was playing along with them but when they sprung that shit on me, I was like "I'm sorry but, why would you be asking me to pay for this booklet is it not supposed to be free?" and they twisted this all around and started blaming me saying they don't actively look for people to join Scientology, and that they just did this for me as a "favour" to better my life, and how I betrayed their trust, and wasted everyone's time, eventually I started thinking I was in the wrong, but fuck that I was not paying ?15 for some book, so they basically shited on me and walked me out of the "office" anyway I fucked off to the library

they probably have me on their "evil people" list or some shit!

Thing I don't understand is, how the hell to they get people to join if they are asking them to pay for so stupid book, which is supposed to give insight!

Anyway had expriance with then IRL?

    Good one Tut!  great

I've never been approached by the Scientologists but I used to get all sorts of people with Bibles under their arm showing up on my doorstep when I was a teenager and living in a rather whitebread small town.  I loved starting theological debates with them, getting them to try to prove that God exists w/o referring to scripture, etc.  They usually left more confused than when they showed up.

Scientology, on the other hand is just a big money making gimmick, IMO.

Personally, though I would be happy if the Thetans came and took Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes and their spoiled brat away so we don't have to see or hear about them anymore!

    Scientology is a global scam...

anyway if you REALLY want to know what they believe, without paying money of course, then read this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xenu

ironically, the founder of Scientology was a science friction writer lol

I would go: "Oh that book, I already have it on PDF, in fact, most of what you guys have I already have on PDF, you want me to send you a copy? I have a PDF written by Xenu himself before the big nuke but I am afraid to open it. Would you open it for me?"

I once did one of their personality tests and watched their introductory brainwashing film when I was kicking around Auckland one day, waiting for the film I really wanted to see to start. Same thing. I was just killing a bit of time and thought checking out the Scientologists' spiel might be amusing.

It was amusing. Very manipulative though. Easy stuff to see through if you have a bit of awareness and you can have fun fucking with their heads a bit.

I could see straight away the sort of people they were targetting. I wasn't one of them.  grin12
