OK seeing as we are being so intellectual here....He is he doesnt he is he isnt and but he is he isnt he didnt and he didnt have.  Ok

I dont get what you want other than for everyone to merely agree with you.  If you set something up in such a way as to justify your own beliefs your arguments are almost as pathetic as Islames.  The issue of the prophets marriages needs its context.  Historical as the other poster argued but also collectively for as a body they represented something more than the individual marriages.  Grind away if that is your wish!!

Here is my reply to the bollocks you're saying with such a statement regarding context:

I do not know if this has been mentioned before in this thread (I've only read the last couple of pages after reading the initial one), but the one thing that strikes me as weird on the issue of Mohammed marrying a nine year old girl is that how god could not foresee the implications of ordering Mohammed to marry a nine year old girl. I'm assuming he was ordered to do so, otherwise I do not understand why anyone in Mohammed's position would do such a thing.

Sure, seeing the marriage in a historical context, there might have been nothing wrong with it. But what about all the girls who have been married at a young age through time due to Mohammeds marriage to Aisha? All the atrocities commited against child brides, something that is still taking place today, is surely something Allah could have foreseen, if he truly is omniscient and omnipotent?

Wouldn't he know that many muslims for decades (even centuries?) to come will try to copy Mohammed's every step, and thus continue this (and other backwards) "islamic" traditions started by Mohammed, even after mankind becomes far more enlightened than they were in the sixth century Arabia?

Many muslim child brides are suffering due to Mohammeds decision to marry Aisha, and thus legalising marriage between grown men and children at age of nine. It does not matter what Islam says or not, what matters is what does occur or not. Are many young mulim girls married at the age of nine, ten, eleven etc. because many muslims think its alright to commit such a henious act, because Muhamemd did so? Yes. Is it injustice to these girls to be married at such a young age? Yes. Are they suffering? Yes. Could you classify sexual acts between these grooms and brides as rape? Yes.

Why could not god have foreseen this? Is it ok for these children to suffer, just so Mohammed could marry Aisha in the sixth century? As long as Mohammed is happy, who cares about the thousands (or even millions?) of child brides who must endure being raped by men far older than them, right?

An omniscient god who can not foresee this? Or an omnibenevolent god who could not care less about the thousands of lives that have been ruined due to this one single act by Mohammed? Was it really so important for Mohammed to marry Aisha? Howcome god could not have chosen another way to preserve his words? Or perhaps what about revealing your words at at time when mankind is far more equipped to preserve and comprehend his words than they were in sixth century Arabia?
