    Perhaps it should all be green, keeping it consistent with the Islamic colour of choice

    True, green and blue just do not contrast well together.

    Yep, to make it perfect I would use the same green and also change the 'AskAllah' typerface to an Arabic style font, but in English still obviously

    I like the design but I think the banner should be more humorous, may be a guy with a beard in the sky or such?

    The design is good otherwise Smiley

    Actually it does matter, bots don't like to index bad code and also we need to get the SEO high in search engine ranking - remember it might render-nice but the bots might not index it correctly.

    Google does index not valid code, its just that if you have 6 pages which are identical but one of them is valid, it will index the valid page higher than the others. It doesn't rank a page higher or lower based on whether the code is valid or not.

    Its so much effort to get all xhtml to validate and render correctly that its easier to leave one or two errors in there. As long as you close all tags correctly there won't be any problems.

    Liberated, I think I know more about SEO then most folks on this forum, I mange a business website we make sales of our products through it, so SEO ranking does have a huge effect on your website, no point having a website which only a few folks can find and that only through a direct url link. It is best to validate all your code, well then again I am a very methodical person by nature.

    Well I used to program I had a basic knowledge from college and I also used to do it as a hobby, and I mange a cooperate websites mainly deal with SEO rankings. I don't code much anymore, but I can code.

    Of course SEO is important, i'm just saying that validating your code 100% isn't beneficial for it or the benefit is very negligible. Validating it 100% is just being a neat freak imo. Whoever's done the html can feel free to validate it if they want to, but if they don't want to we shouldn't push them for such a tiny issue Smiley

    I used to have a wordpress block and I SEO that just for fun, any-time you typed in Iran Iraq war, in google images googles first page was full of images form my blog, also if you typed in gunatanomobay, you would get same results, I was getting at least 1000 hits a day. But then I closed the blog down.

    Even now you can see some traces, unfortunately don't have a google catch of it:

    Making a website 100% xhtml conform is not really difficult when using the right tools. I would highly advise not programming everything yourself but using a ready-to-use CMS System or blogging framework.

    I think we wanted to have some custom features like ajaxified random quotes showing in the sidebar etc. Coding it is not really a big deal, its a pretty simple system I can do in 2-3 days

    If you dont like the banner then feel free to make your own, or toss some ideas around. We can always have a vote on the final banner.

    I don't know how to validate code so you'll have to elaborate on how to do that. I didn't want to use a CMS as it's a bit much for a simple website. I also don't have time to put too much work into this right now as I have tons of uni work to do. Other people are more then welcome to help.

    Don't worry about validating the code.

    If Kaff wants I can code the rest of the site. It'll be more flexible than using a cms and also cleaner and simpler since with a cms there'll be 90% of it that we won't be using.

    Let me know if you want me to start. The banner can be changed any time.

    Something to start off with, I'll try an make an ajax one sometime later, with google SDK tools:

    At the moment:
          <script src="tutsq.js" language="javascript" type="text/javascript"></script>

            <DIV id="tutsquotesscript">

            <script type="text/javascript">

           // "Tut's random quotes gen,

           GetStatement(0)

            </script>

             </div>

          <center>

          <font color="#71025F" size="2" face="Verdana,Arial">

          <script language="JavaScript">

          var Quotation=new Array()

          // DO NOT FUCK WITH THIS.

          // To add more quotations, continue with the

          // pattern, adding to the list. Remember

          // to increase the Quotation[x] index.

         //Or it will not work.

          Quotation[1] = "Hello, World!.";

          Quotation[2] = "King Tut is the best.";

          Quotation[3] = "This is a random quote.";

          Quotation[4] = "Look another random quote.";

          Quotation[5] = "Test this, test test, size okaay";

          // =================================================================================

          // DO NOT FUCK WITH ANYTHING BELOW THIS LINE - (c) King Tut @ Council Of Ex Muslims Forum.

          // =================================================================================

          var Q = Quotation.length;

          var whichQuotation = Math.round(Math.random()*(Q-1));

          function showQuotation() {

          document.write( "<b>" + Quotation[whichQuotation] + "</b>" );
          }

          showQuotation(); // King[tut]/Quotations[script]v.01.

          </script>

    OK paste this code where you want the quotes to appear, you might need to box them into the body, so they don't break alignment, only change the codes in the code once you get it to work, if you need to add more quotes just do this.

    Quotation[5] = "Quote here";

    Make sure you increase the numbers inside the [ tags ] otherwise it will not work.

    Thanks but don't need your help. The quotes will be stored in the database and will be loaded one at a time not in the source code. I don't want any help with the code, if you want to code then do the entire system, not just one part.

     Cheesy i don't need your help in coding something which'll take me 20 mins to code then. Your coding style is different than mine and you'll do things differently than I will. So either you code it all or don't touch the code.

    On the other hand feel free to help on the graphics/design side and with asking/answering questions, the answer you gave above was good

    Sorry, I don't want to be a part of this project  when you have folks like Liberated. In any-case - it is just going to lead to work, without any of the benefits, and being a capitalist, it is very hard being motivated to do something for free.

    a quote table into the myphp lol yeah ok.

    How scalable do you think storing it in the source code is? And is it intelligent to load an extra 5kb or quotes on every page view? What if later there are 500 quotes in the system, should all of them be hard-coded and loaded with every view? How user friendly will it be for Kaff and others to add new quotes especially when a quote contains any double quote marks (")?  Please, just stay away from the code if you aren't a professional programmer or do it all.

    Relax you two. I've attached the source files if anyone wants to add/improve things. You will need to rename them with the right extensions (index.htm, link1.htm and style.css)

    (I'm aware most of the <p> tags arent closed and I'll get to that in a bit)

    EDIT: No point using these attachments as they are buggy. Come back to me tomorrow if you need a usable one.

    Need some help from someone who knows some CSS/HTML. I need to know how you create these greens bars around the title:
    (preferably without using tables)

    You already have a div holding the title don't you? Set the background on that. Alternatively you can use an h1, h2, or h3 or whatever. As long as they are not floated they will go full width and are actually preferred for section headings.

    Read this shit, or at least search it when you get stuck.
