  • Someone ought to do this
     OP - January 08, 2010, 07:07 PM

Especially someone who looks middle eastern or south asian (if you're white they'll claim you were an infidel from the start).

    1) Make a youtube account and start posting a lot of videos about the glory of Islam, debate with non-muslims, etc.

    2) Get a lot of muslim subscribers who idolize you and use you as their poster boy / girl. (very easy, they're not very bright, its like herding sheep. If Zakir naik can do it anyone can)

    3) Announce apostasy and change your channel to start posting videos debunking Islam and all of your prior arguments. If you were a guy get clean shaved, if you were a girl start using a lot of make up / showing your hair during videos.

    4) Major lulz

    Cheesy Cheesy

     Cheesy

I had a friend try this before. It's not easy to get them to idiolize you, and subscribe to you. It takes time before you become known amongst the Youtube Muslim community. They don't just subscribe to anyone speaking about wonders of Islam, debating Atheists, Christians or whatever.

For those who understand, no explanation is necessary. For those who refuse to understand, no explanation is possible.

Has there been any opposite cases? Where a Muslim/Christian pretended to be 'Atheist'/'Agnostic' or such, debated with Muslims/Christians, spoke of the glory of atheism etc etc then openly announces they have 'left' Atheism, have been 'guided', and becomes Muslim/Christian?

Nope and I really don't think it'll ever happen. For someone to be a prominent atheist youtuber they'll have to have a THOROUGH understanding & education of science, atheism, and the negative aspects of Islam/other religions. If someone gets this kind of education I don't think they'll ever convert back to Islam of all religions  Cheesy.

Also to be a prominent atheist they'd have to post blasphemous stuff which no muslim will ever do IMO.

I'm sure Muslims can try this but everyone will be able to smell B.S from the start and they''ll never get a good subscriber base.

Trust me no matter how genuine you look or how devout you were, it will all be in vain and they will just throw the 'No True Scotsman' fallacy at you, specially considering you will do this online, where they couldn't possibly know you personally.

There are more than enough real muslims leaving. This idea is silly, why lie? What will this achieve? It'll just give muslims even more of a reason to doubt an ex-muslim authenticity if they found out the truth. Youtube is already full of trusted muslims who apostatized, made it public and as a result became ostracised from the community, one of them joined this forum not too long ago.

This idea has been done for real. It is also full of unnecessary deceit. We have no reason to do such a thing.

The best way to use youtube is to just do what we've already been doing. Post apostasy videos, and educate the world about Islam. We really need to get out videos out there too, especially ones like Hassan's which are very important.

It has been done before, but I cannot remember the person who did it.

It was very very funny. She was a muslim girl dressed in a hijab making videos for several years, then I think it was when she turned 19, she decided to leave Islam genuinely (according to her), took of her hijab and starting making videos about the comments she recieved from ther previous supporters.

We keep hearing about how Jack Straw or the French government have mentioned the veil and our doing so puts us in the same boat as them. How so? I want a ban on the burka, neqab and child veiling.

you can either defend women or you must defend Islam. You can’t defend both

100% agree, totally silly idea. Besides loss of respect it will achieve nothing but hostility and more ill feeling, of which I think there is enough of in the world already.

But why should a muslim posting videos abut themselves, and then realising they want to become Atheist cause any kind of hostility? How exactly does turning atheist cause a loss of respect?

Ideally it shouldnt, a person can believe whatever they like, and this should not upset anyone else.

If muslims do get upset over this, it is because they believe in the apostasy is sin, which is their own problem. People do not have to respect Islam in their personal beliefs just because Islam demands it.

You think they cant tell? Even if it was a sincere Muslim to Atheist, they would claim it wasn't. The loss of respect would be more likely to come from those that are privvy to the fool that can't think of anyhting better to do with their time.
