Yep  Smiley I admire honesty in a person.

    Lets do this one next:

How many angels fought for Muhammad?
    http://skepticsannotatedbible.com/quran/contra/fought.html

Its probably better if you post a new thread called 'contradictions' and quote this post there. Can you do it or shall I do it?
  • Re: Hello people
     Reply #481 - January 16, 2010, 04:32 AM

    First off read 3:124-125

The number changed from 3000 to 5000... "would 3000 be enough? If you're patient, 5000 angels will fight with you".

Then in 8:9-10, the number is 1000.

*By deafault* this IS a contradition since both instances are talking about the same battle (Badr).

But really, if you read the Quran you'd notice when a certain account is repeated more than once, everytime it's repeated different (additional) information is revealed... Take for example, the conversation between Adam and Satan.. in one verse Satan promises Adam becoming an angel or immortal... in the other verse, he promises Adam un-perishable Kingdom... meaning? He actually promised all these things revealed in both places in the Quran.

The conversation between God and Satan, everytime you see this conversation in the Quran some additional information is added.

Same thing when it comes to the conversation between Moses and Pharoah when he first met him, the same between Moses and God in the holy valley Tuwa., etc, etc.

So back to the verses in question... taking 9:9-10 and 3:124-125 togeather, God promised them 1000, then increased it to 3000 then to 5000.

I honestly don't think there's a contradiction for anyone who is familiar with this style of the Quran.

     Reply #482 - January 16, 2010, 04:46 AM

If the number had been increased, there would have certainly been a mention of this increase, such as allah saying that as a reward for mo's patience he increased the number from 3k to 5k, but there's no such mention. Its highly inconsistent for allah to reward something or do a favor to a prophet and then not mention it specifically in the quran.

In the absense of the quran mentioning this 'reward' or 'increase' in numbers you're speculating again and you'll have to come up with a better explanation or repeat the same thing you said earlier for us to move on Smiley

LOL! Well, like I said, the increase from 3000 to 5000 was for to encourage them... by the same token, if we look at all the verses togeather, God promised them 1000, 3000, and finally 5000... like I explained, stories repeated in the Quran always have additional information. This is a well known style of the Quran.

    Hi btw Smiley

I agree with you Debunker. I treat my slave with respect. I got her from a battle against muslims. I didn't fight though but my friend captured her and gave her to me. I feed her and clothe her. And the sex is amazing. Well I think so at least. I make her brush the bathroom with a tooth brush (like I always tell her cleanliness is next to Godliness), I would make her brush her teeth with it but that would be cruel. She says she doesn't want become a Muslim :( So I can't free her.

Is it not amazing this wonderful world? I love that Allah has made the Earth flat. It would be hard to be able to stand in one spot, if it was all crooked, I mean there are slopes, and hills, but if you stand on the same spot, it's flat. That's what I get when I read the earth farasha al arz. Spread the earth like a carpet.

I love the sun, and the moon, following their own courses, setting and rising. God created sunsets and sunrises for us to enjoy his creation.

And the earth that was split asunder from the heaven.

I love Jinns. The good ones. I can't see them. But they are there, I feel their presence. I also pray that Allah keeps me safe from the Witches that blow on ropes. Instead of telling me  they can't do no harm, because black magic does not actually work, Allah gives me a verse that makes me feel safe against them and also protects me from he who whispers in my chest. That's where my brain is.

I love Adam and Eve. My father, and mother. And your father, and mother. And my slave's father, and mother. But I try not think about this because the Iblis makes me think of incest, and incest is haram.

I love houris. Rivers of milk and honey. It's like when we are in heaven we will have Escalade and rivers of Snapple. At least that's what I would like to have. And I love those young boys that walk around serving us.

I love Prophet Mohammad. he is the Best example and one to follow, a mercy to all kind. I am glad there are so many examples of his behavior in the Quran so I know how to behave.

I can't wait to get married. I think one should marry early. So I'm currently going to ask my friend to let me marry his daughter, she is 6. But don't worry I will only have sex with her when she runs her courses. My friend says that will happen in 4-5 years. I can't wait! Until then I will frot against her thigh, she is my wife. And my tilth, and I may enter my tilth as I wish. But seeing she needs her courses I will n?t enter, I will rub against the tilth instead.

I love the stories in the Quran. Like Noah's Ark, the she-camel, the Exodus. I will read these stories to my children at night. But if they get nightmares when I tell them of the parts where God destroys the entire city I will tell him *don't worry. If we lived back then you would be safe with me, because I would be with the Prophets. When they ask me what about our friends, if they're parents don't believe the Parents? I tell them they will go to heaven of course. And have houris. And rivers of milk and honey. And they can play with the young boys serving us. If they tell me where on Earth these happened I will be able to point to a geographic location and a time in History and they ask me oh yeah daddy let's not go on vacation to Disney World. Let's go to these places. When they tell me Daddy, I want to see Noah's Ark in the museum. Where is it? I tell them..

*This is not a contradiction. I know I said them and then I referred to him, as in one child. But I could be reading the story to one child, my son, when he can't sleep, and the others are already asleep.

Ok, i'm too excited to hear what kind of justification you'll come up with for the next contradiction, so lets move on to it:
Is Iblis an angel or a jinn?

Is that a yes Smiley I am a good muslim no? Akhik bil deen Smiley

I even do the 4:34 on my wife. I follow it to the letter. Yesterday she was mad at me because I didn't like her drawing and scowled at me. I let this go. And then she kept telling me to say its nice, and I didn't because I don't believe in lying. So I followed 4:34 to the letter. And I hit her. I kicked her in the face. I don't follow hadiths, well, selectively, well, it depends, sometimes I don't follow them at all.

Not a contradiction. I can't wait till I get married with that friend's 6 year old daughter, sorry I didn't express myself clearly, I'm after all not Guided Divinely (that's why I can't be a Prophet because I'm not perfect like him).

And it's not like I can edit my post and present it in the proper way. That would be abrogation. I can't do that either, because Allah knows the method of abrogation best.

What I mean is I am already married to another child-bride. That's the one I was referring to in the second post. I can marry several wives, if I can manage it. And I can. In every possible way.

Bob is talking about debunker's avatar, it is the statue of David by Michelangelo.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_(Michelangelo)
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David

It is actually puzzling why a Muslim would use it.. aside from being king of the jews... its also a idolatrous and naked statue. Something expressedly forbidden in Islam.

Perhaps it's all allusion to David versus Goliath? Perhaps debunkers sees himself as a Muslim David against a Goliath of Apostasy? Grin Would fit in well with the rest of his inane sophistry and rationalisation Islamic barbarity.

    @ sky

apples and oranges, dear sky, apples and oranges.

How am I comparing apples with oranges? Both verses were as a result of some situation/context . In this way they are similar. Now what is that makes you believe that 4:34 is only for Arabs while the verse concerning adoption is for entire mankind when both the verses  were a result of a particular situation intended as a solution to a problem . There must be something that differentiates between these 2 verses because of which you feel I am comparing apples with oranges .

Btw you need not be so formal with me .I think we are very formal when we communicate. I actually hate such language. You can crack jokes, abuse or make fun of me. I wouldnt be bothered   grin12
