As much as I personally enjoy his rantings and ravings, Pat Condell is a bit hysterically alarmist.. I mean yeah, Islamists are a problem.. but does he really believe there is even a 1% chance of the UK becoming an Islamic state? I hope he's just doing that as a sort of rhetorical technique and doesn't actually believe it.

I can't speak for him, but I suspect that Pat Condell is more alarmed about the leverage that Jamaat-e-Islami groups like the MCB have on government policy, and the entrenchment of Islamic separatism, and the genuine problem of Islamic extremism in our society, than of the chance of Britain actually fulfilling the wet dreams of Islamic ideologues by becoming an Islamic country. He makes points about the secular space and of womens rights being circumscribed because of Islamic demands and he is right about some of these things - and it is mainly a problem of Islam in that respect. Islamisation of Britain doesn't mean Britain becomes Islamic, but it does mean that things like polygamy and underground sharia courts are left to flourish undisturbed by the state in what amounts to a tacit Islamaisation of parts of Britain, and the ones who bear the heaviest burden of this are British women who are abandoned to those deprivations of rights simply because they are born into a Muslim family.

As I understand Pat Condell suffered miserably under a Catholic childhood and schooling, and his visceral rejection of the paradigms of religion in society are rooted in this experience.

Strange.. I made the title and still don't 'get it'.. Someone care to explain. Only trick I did was change his last name to include the word "chode".. cos Anjem is a chode.

edit - he was raised a Catholic and went to various C of E schools it says on wiki and he seems to have gained an aversion to religion there. I'm sure I read or heard somewhere something about him talking of his Catholic childhood, maybe in one of his videos, or maybe I am just reading too much into things though.

Its not so much the government supporting them as historically not getting to grips with the ideologies of Islamism and the ruses they use to assert themselves. Its all changing now, but about 20 years too late.

Its just that it sounds so similar , the spanish J is a kind of rasping H as in the scottish ch in Loch ,so its pronouced Hoder , as I say its singulary most used and , if I may be so bold , the most useful word in the world. I hate anjem as the next person, but Maajid is also a dick. His just a government lackey, i heard Nawaz was getting paid a 6 figure salary working for the Quilliam Foundation. We need Maajid in terms of counter extremism but if he keeps yapping about the Labour Government then in that aspect i believe his just a waste of time.

I don't think that Maajid can be compared to Choudry. One is an extremist hate mongering bigot and apologist for jihadism, Majid is a peaceful opponent of ideological extremism who argues through reason and debate about why Islamism is wrong. They are completely different.
