I'm actually related to that guy. Although every Bangladeshi in the tri-state area will also claim that. I really am.

Good for him - but he should know that he did his good act because he is a good man with an innate sense of decency, not because he is a Muslim  Afro

Bengalis always just say that as a sort of formality. "bodhro musulman lokh" (good muslim guy). Knowing bengalis, I doubt he was truly meaning a religious justification. Problem is that often being a good, down to earth and honest person is associated with being Musulman and being atheist is associated with elitist snobbery. At least thats the case with bengalis.

Even from a country rife with corruption we must remember there IS a NORMAL DISTRIBUTION and there ARE good Bengali's out there, especially like this chap. I'm a good guy too. E.g. amazon sent me a book and I though it got lost in the post (work college actually had it while I was away one day) so Amazon sent me another. When I found the original, I sent the other one back. Little things like that. Perhaps we should have another thread on this to see whose done the nicest most selfless thing ever!  Wink

This reminds me of a recent lecture I listened to by Feiz Muhammad.  He said a Muslim can be a taxi driver but it is very difficult to do so for the following reasons:
    1.  Cannot transport a woman who is by herself.
    2.  Cannot transport alcohol or any other haram food/beverage.
    3.  Cannot take a passenger anywhere that is haram ie can't take them to a bar, nightclub etc.

I think there was more but I can't imagine a cabbie in the west (even a devout Muslim) follows this.

    lol @ Feiz Muhammad

ask him how do we make a living then? will you donate some of that dawaa money to the poor cab drivers that have to refuse these fares? he will say pray to Allah and he will grant you.. if i stayed at home and prayed all day for allah to grant me a million dollars, would i get it no? people say of course not silly, you need to work for it, so whats the point of thanking god when you get something then? i did all the work, ASTAGFURLLAH

Yup, that's the guy. I listen to his lectures for the lolz.  His poor wife - woman can't go to university, can't leave the house w/o hubby's permission, have to have a wali to travel or to go to a male dr...the list is endless.
