Maybe. But his Burak is super-duper-fast. I mean a step covers the distance equal to the range of vision, that's something impressive.
I read somewhere (Hadith?) that it was supposed to travel as fast as sound. Which is not that impressive really, the fastest jet can reach Mach 3.5 which is 3.5 times as fast as Buraq.
Speed of light or instant teleportation would be a much more impressive feat for God's Stallion.
Unless you ask Zia Sardar who would tell you that the story of the journey to the Seventh Heaven is really purely a metaphor for Muhammad's spiritual journey.
The Buraq story always made me laugh as a kid. But it sure made for some cool art:
(Clicky for piccy!)This is an example of medieval Islamic art (circa 14th century?) if I am not mistaken. Anybody else finds it funny that such art (depicting Muhammad) did exist in the past and apparently nobody got excited, protested and killed because of it?
