You guys are hanafi in palestine right? I'm guessing you are considering Palestine has been under the rule of those same turko-persian governments since medieval times and through to the Ottomans.

to tell you the truth although we have Islam as state religion while in the same time Christianity is also mentioned we don't have a specification for the state religion as in what mathhab it belongs...i guess i can always find something in the records of the shari court

nevertheless we are in majority suni hanafi people i guess, but we have pretty much everything you can imagine on the sides

The Ottoman empire operated multiple courts depending upon your madhab and whether or not you were Christian or Jewish.

Thanks for that - the graph explains a lot.

Do you think similar cultures have devoloped along Madhab cultural lines?

Isnt wahhabism a madhab in Saudi, or is it something that came later?

Also why is that that there are differences within these madhabs, like there are pyr followers within Hanifis, or are these different madhabs?

And what are the most significant differences between these madhabs e.g. is female genital mutilation part of any in Africa?
