  • The Akinator
     OP - January 21, 2010, 02:38 PM

Saw this on another forum, and it's pretty good so I figured why not add it here.  bunny

All you have to do is think of a character, answer a few questions, and the akinator will guess what it is.

I was thinking of kahlan the mother confessor from the sword of truth series and it guess correctly.

My son thought of spongebob and it guessed it, my other son thought of Iron man and it guessed it, and my little girl thought of barbie, and it guessed it, although the questions for that one led to an obvious conclusion.

See if it can guess your character: http://uk.akinator.com/

It got John Brown too, but I just defeated it with Eduard Limonov. Let me see if I can beat it with some more obscure choices. Fuck you, BerberElla, I have a feeling this is gonna be my new addiction.

    This kicks ass  Afro
I always play it when I am bored, it sometimes makes stunning guesses. It rarely fails (unless it's an almost no-body). Though I was showing this to my friend yesterday and it got what guessed wrong even though he was a popular football player (Raul Bravo I think was his name), which made me look like an idiot for telling him this program/website is amazing.  finmad

Fuck this thing is good.  It got James Joyce too, even though the questions it asked seemed kind of vague.

I just did the Prophet Mohammed, purely to see what picture it would bring up.  I was hoping for the Danish cartoon with the bomb in his turban, but it just brought up a picture of some mosque.   Cry

Shame on you, she's from arabian nights, remember?  the woman who married the sultan, and then told him a story each night to stop him from killing her as he had vowed to marry and kill a new bride each day.

I was thinking Saladin, but it only guesses it right if you say yes to "arabic origin". Which is gay, since Saladin was a kurd.  Undecided

It correctly guessed Genghis Khan after 12 questions...  Fecking brilliant

Eh, although I thought it was pretty impressive at first (still do actually) found some issues with this program--

    1. Sometimes it will pick male characters even when you've indicated it's female

    2. Sometimes it will pick white characters even after you've indicated they are dark-skinned (damn racist, sexist Akinator!)

    3. If you stumped it after the first round of questions, the subsequent questions can be repetitive or contradictory (i.e. asks versions of the same or the exact same questions, or asks you if your character is American even after you said its not in the previous round). So if you can beat it in the first round, chances it will get in the 2 subsequent rounds of questions goes down quite a bit.

Here's a list of (relatively obscure) people/characters I was able to stump it on:

    Eduard Limonov
    Andy Stern
Jackie Brown (from Friends of Eddie Coyle)
    Eddie Coyle
    Leila Khaled
    William "Big Bill" Haywood
    Alexandra Kollontai
    Lucy Parsons
    Fred Hampton

I think there were some others too. But yeah, it got some other ones much quicker than I would have expected (e.g. Mikhail Kalashnikov in like 10-11 questions, Frank Costello in like 9 or 10, Alexander the Great in less than a dozen)

    fuck you
