  • What would be the impact of alien life being found on Islam?
     OP - January 25, 2010, 07:14 AM

If alien life forms were found on on other planets (whether bacteria, small bugs, or intelligent forms like humans) then what would the impact on the muslim world / islam? How would they justify this not being declared in the quran?
  • Re: What would be the impact of alien life being found on Islam?

The same way xtianity and other religions would, by ignoring it, or claiming some vague reference relates to it.  It's not like Allah knew about dinosaurs, nor does the fact that billions of year old dinosaurs bones have been dug up but no 50ft human skeleton made any real dent within the islamic world.

It would mean nothing, maybe grab a few more apostates out of it, but islam would still keep on ticking.

Inhale the good shit, exhale the bullshit.

Well, dinosaurs are dead, alien life would be alive.. there's a big difference.
  • Re: What would be the impact of alien life being found on Islam?

Not really, it's the premise that is the same. The idea that a thing could be ignored, regardless of how factual, nor how many contradictions it my cause.

Yeah pretty much. But there is one HUGE difference. Alien contact would most probably result in a massive influx in new technologies and further advancements of our own. It could contribute hugely in further demolishing the relevance of these ancient religions just as the scienitific revolution has done already.

Dinosaurs are a big deal, but they really don't change the way we live. Alien contact and technology very well could.

Oh, in that sense yes, i was just going by the assumption that liberated was saying that aliens would somehow discredit islam to hardcore believers or scheming scholars lol.

No I agree with that totally. A bunch of apes who believe in something outside of reason to begin with aren't going to be bothered by some aliens. Just another species to add to the kuffar list. But it's societal impact would be huge.

    Depends on the aliens.

If they are aggressive, and have superior abilities either naturally or through technology, then yeah it probably would challenge the christian and the islamic notions of the "superiority" of humans. I imagine some would leave their religions and maybe adopt new ones that incorporate those other life forms. If the aliens are themselves proselytizers, they could try and forcibly convert humans as well. In that case, religion may become a rallying force to unite and fight the aliens (see Ummah).

If they are in any way exploitable, xtians, muslims and industrialists alike would be on top of them trying to get them on their side, to exploit them in one way or another - same as was done with colonialism in africa and other places.

lol if Aliens are coming here then its 99% chance they will be millions of years more advanced than us. They'd be like gods to us and would either annihlate us or drag us into galactic modernity. Islam/Christianity and all that shit would become meaningless and irrelevant.

If we're going to the aliens, that means we've discovered FTL travel, and that won't happen for probably hundreds of years (if at all) and by then I'd hope we would have already gotten rid of Islam as any meaningful presence in the world.

Yeah but y'know the bible thumpers, the ultra-orthodox jews and the muslimaniacs would first throw a planet-wide shit fit before that would happen.

I don't think things like this make any difference to those who hold on to their faith or ascent to belief.

I've heard some were in the quran that Allah created only humans/jinn's and there is no life outside earth or w/e. If we doo find aliens it'll be a big blow. Muslims/Mormans/Christians be asking liek "hey does Aliens need to score points for the afterlife  Huh?"

I don't think there's any explicit mention of there being no alien species or any species other than humans/jinns, but the afterlife thing is what I'm wondering too, how would the clerics explain afterlife for the aliens?

LOL, It would be super awesome if aliens were found then, as long as they were friendly

I am sure Zakir Naik will find some verse along the line where the quran claims Allah made all the "worlds"....

the Arabic word for "worlds" will somehow be "alien". Subhanallah!!!

but anyway any forms of bacterial life on mars or w/e would prove evolution and the scientists would have a field day. i am certain they would make a hell of alot of noise.
