    For those who haven't heard of it, here is the trailer:

    Man I cried, the stoning scene is brutal and graphic.  I'm actually still pretty tearful, through my rage right now.

    I'm actually trying to give some kind of review here, but I'm so mad I keep deleting text as it's coming out wrong.   finmad

    I just want to hit some mullah right now, some arrogant stupid inferior little man, with his stupid napoleonesqe psychosis.

    If you haven't watched it yet, I highly recommend it.  Be prepared to be angry though.

    The actor played the evil part to perfection, I hate his nasty evil bearded face now. He set her up so he could marry a 14yr old girl.

    You will be exposed to the mullah and the little girl he is obviously screwing. vomit The idea of temporary marriage, the fact that young girls get raped without the final act of vaginal penetration.  Cry

    But most of all just how powerless and hopeless it would be to be a woman living in a country run by sharia law.

    I haven't watched all of the second one yet (I'm about halfway through it) but I noticed the male director is talking about women's rights and the woman is mainly just sitting there. Go figure. Tongue

    I do not have the guts to watch this yet. I follow the case back in the days when it was still unfolding and read about the event that I can not get myself to watch it now. In fact for several years now, whenever I think about the iranian mullahs, it is the mullah this movie talks about that i imagine 'standing on the wall' in my mind's theatre, and it is quite a gruesome theatre generally when it comes to those pricks.

    I've reserved the movie on Lovefilm but there is no release date for it on DVD yet.  Berbs, can you pm me that link please?

    the movie was well told, it wasn't very subtle and obviously wanted you to feel sorry for soraya but still a good movie nonetheless

    7/10 from me

    I tend to give films that make me cry 10/10 so seriously don't take my word for it.

    I have felt more anger to a movie before, I feel they really could have gone to town and fleshed out other aspects of the abuses that go on over there, but the subtle hint is enough, it works.  We don't see the mullah touch the young girl that works for him, but from the way he addresses her and the way he looks at her, you know what is going on behind it.

    I would recommend watching it yourself to make you own judgement.  Afro

    I dont think I will.  I know abuse goes on in the world, and in the Islamic world, so dont see the sense in depressing myself further about it.  I dont enjoy feeling sorry for myself, and would rather spend the time doing something happier instead.

    Never heard anyone put either of those 2 films in their Top Ten, let alone as favourites - probably explains why I havent seen either.  Might watch Apocalypse now though, as IMDB give it 8.6/10..
