    My predictions:

Best Picture - Avatar (I'm rooting for Inglourious Basterds though)
Best Director - Cameron is the likely to win. I'm rooting for Kathryn Bigelow
Best Actor - Jeff Bridges has it in the bag. Haven't seen Crazy Heart but I've heard his performance was tremendous
    Best Actress - Sandra Bullock
Best Supporting Actor - If Christopher Waltz doesn't win, I will boycott the Oscars for the next 5 years
    Best Supporting Actress - Mo'Nique ?
Best Original Screenplay - Tarantino! Tarantino! Tarantino!
Best Adapted Screenplay - District 9 FTW

Yeah, I had no idea IB was a "critically acclaimed" flick. What the hell? I thought it was a boring piece of crap. Alright, to be fair I laughed once.

Hurt Locker is excellent, Inglorious Basterds is great too  Afro

Avatar should win special effects, but it shouldn't get anywhere near the main awards.

Well if you're not a Tarantino fan, it wouldn't surprise me if you didn't like Inglourious Basterds.

I loved IB... bur Tarantino films have no place on a best film category.

I normally love tarrentiono.  I'm half way through it, and so far Inglorious Basterds is no pulp fiction - just seem so .. predictable.  Hoping it gets better soon..

Pulp Fiction was revolutionary. IB is entertaining and artistic. It's the kind of movie that you never regret the 7 Pounds you paid for.

Agree on both counts. And add Avatar to the second statement.

Avatar is a work of art, a masterpiece. It is the apex and pinnacle of hollywood. It is the wondrous magic of cinema in it's purest form. All others bow down.

Hurt locker in my opinion was just fantastic. Of course for special effects avatar wins but for acting and an amazing plot i say hurt locker is the king.

Also the director of the Hurt Locker is James Cameron's ex wife  Smiley

I've been meaning to watch Hurt Locker, actually am more interested in watching that and A Serious Man than watching Avatar (apologies to Iblis Tongue)

I thought Inglourious Bastards was great, not Pulp Fiction or Reservoir Dogs or Four Rooms (Tarantino's best 3 IMO), but still really good. I do think Christoph Waltz deserves an award, as does Tarantino for the script.

You're not the first person I know who said Reservoir Dogs is one of Tarantino's greatest but really? IMO, Tarantino's best movies are Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, and True Romance respectively.

Oh and I definitely agree on Waltz

Str8 up I like Tarantino films because they are funny and violent and always have a strong cast.

Although Tarantino gets criticized for interpolating too many films and scenes into his movies I have to say the man is a fricking genius.
