Hi this is just to inform you about the latest addition to the ex-muslim causes--the Islampedia. Thanks to our lovely Aziz, the wiki has been running for several months now. Unfortunately we suffer from a lack of interest and contribution of articles, pages, you name it, whatever. As a result Aziz has been doing much of the work on the wiki.
An introductionThe purpose of Islampedia is to counter apologetic claims, to compile facts about islam, and articles that criticize certain aspects of it. However, this is not all. It does not have to relate strictly to Islam, but rather needs to be interesting and provide a variety of interesting pieces which aid the ex-muslim cause. It should be noted that we don’t wish to present Islam in a bad light and try to be as fair and factual as possible.
Why a wiki is a great idea for the ex-muslim community?Having a wiki allows complete control over it. We wont have to deal with bullshit policies like they have on wikipedia. Furthermore, ex-muslims are a unique bunch of people and thus the Internet is a great way for information to be compiled. It’s a great template for beginning a series of dialogues on Islam or apostates (and other relative subjects).
The council of ex-muslims Britain forum started out small and got bigger, and now serves as a great place for discussion. The wiki is where you can contribute by way of properly written articles and pages on the topics discussed on the forum.
To get you thinking:Possible topics can range from anything you thought of, to ideas from existing threads in the forum. We have some great threads, which can easily be used as a spark for writing an article!
Here just a few titles I took from threads which can easily be expanded on:
-Heaven for Women in Islam
-Heaven for Men In Islam
-Scientific Miracles in the Quran
-Issues relating to Prophet Muhammed (i.e his marraige and sexual relations with Aisha)
-Funny hadiths
-Why eternal torture is justified for disbelief
-Islam is a Man's religion
-The impossibility of Allah's existence
and on and on
, you can easily come up with topics to write on and the thing about a wiki is, that people with editing rights can easily add to your stuff so there isn't a worry about finishing (esp right now in the beginning stage of the wiki)
