Polygraphs for politicians?
OP
- February 08, 2010, 12:31 AM
Just a wild though I had when I was stoned earlier today.
There could be a standard test that every politician has to take before running in an election. Well not ever one of them bu you know what I mean. And just for the sake of the discussion let's assume polygraph tests are 100% reliable.
I'm inclined to be against it but I will wait until I hear your opinions before I cast my vote.
Feel free to ridicule the idea.

Against - simply because there's little point as they are unreliable i.e. somebody could be predjudiced from joining office, just because the test got it wrong. Unfair.

In that case it depends on the question you ask in them, and if the answers would be public knowledge..

I'd be more inclined to let the ones who aren't good liars pass the test.

Well in that case, yes - only on questions related to their job and political positions though.

Just for the sake of discussion let's assume we are really talking about polygraphs.
Reliability is about equal to random chance. Totally useless.
Devious, treacherous, murderous, neanderthal, sub-human of the West.
