a sort of muslim evangelist!  piggy

He regularly sends me emails with various links and attachments to islam-y things, which I never open and promptly delete coz I have far more interesting things to do, like play games on facebook!

I had the misfortune of meeting up with him this weekend. It's been about 4-5 years since I last saw him. Was very weird seeing him as a creepy looking bearded dude. Quite a transformation from the health conscious affable non-religious guy he used to be :(

Anyway, in my little 'gift bag' from daddy, I discovered two books when I got home.

Jesus - Prophet of Islam by Muhammad Ata ur-Rahim and Ahmad Thompson

The Dead Sea scrolls, the gospel of Barnabas and the New Testament by M. A. Yusseff

Anyone read either of these books? I'm too lazy to bother to read them so a gist/critique would be nice  Tongue

He constantly tries to jabber away about his new beliefs and then wanted to pull the standard propoganda shite on me about how quran was the best thing on the planet coz it talked about embryonic stuff and how many modern discoveries by scientists confirm the stuff written by Mr Moh etc etc.

Anyway, just felt like getting that off my chest. The rest of the stuff in the goody bag was pretty nice  parrot

Sounds like he thinks you are turning christian

This Gospel is considered by the majority of academics, including Christians and some Muslims (such as Abbas el-Akkad) to be late and pseudepigraphical;[1] however, some academics suggest that it may contain some remnants of an earlier apocryphal work edited to conform to Islam , perhaps Gnostic[2] or Ebionite[3] or Diatessaronic[4]

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gospel_of_Barnabas

It's a fake, propaganda. Like the Protocols of the Elders of Zion. I wouldn't touch a book on Jesus written by a Muslim with a 10 foot pole. They are biased to begin with.

You're right BlackDog, I know it's quite pointless reading stuff about christianity from a muslim author as it is hardly going to be objective and unbiased, even if there might be some valid points.

Didn't realize the gospel of barnabas was fake! I should email the wiki page to him  Cheesy

    Shakir

61:6 And when Isa son of Marium said: O children of Israel! surely I am the apostle of Allah to you, verifying that which is before me of the Taurat and giving the good news of an Apostle who will come after me, his name being Ahmad, but when he came to them with clear arguments they said: This is clear magic.

Thank him for his presents. Tell him you want to give him some gifts in return. Then get on Amazon and buy a book about Judaism, Christianity, Hinduism and just for fun, throw in Ayaan Hirsi Ali's biography in there  Afro
