    Was he that good?

I mean what points can he make that haven't already been made?

It was the way he made those points.

Islam is a funny religion which is misunderstood by its scholars and correctly understood by ordinary Muslims.

He was intelligent but pompous with it, and whilst he may have made valid posts, his point was lost in the sheer arrogance of his self love and self delusions.

His attitude was a scathing one, hard to not feel as if you were being looked down on by some smug man who really thinks too highly of himself.

Well, that's how I saw him.

Hassan is intelligent and knowledgable about islam, he can make the same point that man would, but people would listen more to hassan than him, because hassan isn't a pompous poster.  Tongue

    To Rashna,

I have one question for you - why dont you like FFI more than COEM?

I might have to ask that question to myself these days Cheesy

For me the answer is that I love strong and hard arguments.

We don't ban people unless it's extreme either, or they are trolling/multi nicking etc.

We don;t ban people for their opinions, we ban them for personal attacks, for being nasty with those opinions, and even then we give so much leeway, yet here you claim that the speech over there is more free.

None of you have ever been smited for your opinions, ever, you have simply had to deal with ALOT more people who are critical of what you are saying, whereas over there everyone agress and pats you on the back.  Maybe this is why you feel your opinion is being clamped down on, because you hate being the odd one out.

However as facts go, there is no difference in the freedom of speech being exercised over there, to the one over here, it's all a matter of perspective.

Are  christian missionaries allowed to post here? If yes then you have a point. Also would you allow christian missionaries to preach their faith in sections other than islam ? I guess you would allow muslims to preach their faith  but would you allow the christians  to do the same? Note that I aint supporting christianity or christians .All i want to ask you is would you give them the same degree of freedom?

We've never banned anybody for that, anyone who comes here talking about their religion just better be prepared to get challenged.  So yes, we do allow it and always have.

Thank you for your good thoughts about me - I can say that I regret saying that to Zaephon, but it takes a while to calm down after leaving Islam - and it was a while ago and I'm sure Zaephon himself knows my feelings towards him changed since then which is why I'm a little disappointed Rashna brought it up again.

Freedom of speech is fine, but there is a line which people should not cross and that is definitely when it incites violence towards others.

There is no conflict between keeping discussions within certain limits of civility and having good discussions.

Like I said on my Youtube channel:

I expect a certain standard of civilised behaviour and respectfully ask all those who comment on my channel to bear this in mind. While I of course defend Free Speech, I do not believe that means I have to provide a platform for every idiot who wants to shout a stream of expletives, abuse, pornographic, disgusting, and hateful comments. If I see comments that overstep that mark they will be deleted.

I am sure that you are aware about many anti-Islam/anti-Muslim members getting banned from FFI for their comments towards Muslims inciting violence against them. If you wish, I can even name a few. These days, however, hardly anyone gets banned there because of Ali expressing his opinion against bans.

Heck there have been some Muslim trolls there no one seemed to be capable of handling properly; they almost killed you by the utter stupidities of their posts Cheesy

I have never known anyone to be banned for preaching - only for excessively abusive behaviour or trolling. afaik the mods here have not banned many people - they are very tolerant.

Personally I think the mods here hit just the right balance.

Then you have a point . I held this opinion because I see people frequently making comments here that christian missionaries shouldnt be befriended or allowed to post.

I think you should take a look at this thread http://www.councilofexmuslims.com/index.php?topic=4153.480 - it might change of few of your misconceptions about COEM about christian missionaries not being allowed to post, and that there are no serious debates here..

I'm a little disappointed Rashna brought it up again.

No offence, but the first time Islame, you & other ex Muslims' attitudes towards me underwent a serious change was when I had expressed only a wee bit sympathy for Westerners scared of Islamization & extremist Muslim attitudes, & this was enough for Islame & co. to jump on me & for you to delcare that you were very "disappointed" with me. I have a great talent for digging up old posts, so I can dig these out too.

You can't be nasty to people & expect sweet words all the time.

I find it extremely interesting & ironical that today a Muslim debunker is expressing similar sympathy towards Westerners scared about Islamization... and absolutely getting away with it, not a word of protest from anyone!  Roll Eyes

Rather inconsistent attitude, I must say.  Wink

I know of one Muslim in an extended group of my acquaintances who converted to Christianity. I don't think its that uncommon. On the Channel 4 documentary on apostasy amongst Muslims a couple of years back they said that there are underground churches in the UK of ex Muslim Christians. They had to be kept secret for obvious reasons. The main story was about a Muslim and his family in Bradford who converted to Christianity and who was regularly abused by Muslims, his home vandalised, death threats, etc. The reporter went outside his house to be shown some of the most recent graffiti and a car drove past and abused him on camera. He said it was literally like that every time he walked out of his house.

I don't care, who does the Biblical Jesus speak for? For Yahweh!!! The same Yahweh who ordered the Israelites to stone men to death for working on the Sabbath or disrespecting a priest or cursing, etc, etc...

Say what you want about the coherence of Jewish or Christian theology.. but Jesus was, for his time, a very good ethical teacher. He taught and said some profound things.

I might find Christiniaty to be rather bizarre, but as an individual Jesus was a pretty cool guy. Well definitely compared to Muhammad.  Tongue

yeah, like the underground church in Mecca... that's Christian propagans crap.. again, the percentage of of ex-Muslims who become Christians is extremely low.. Of course, impoverished Muslims converting to Christianity doesn't count.. If I'm starving and you give me a piece of bread, I will call you god, billy!
