    Quote
There was a time when I took comfort in symbolism and rituals. I saw them as having a deeper meaning and connecting me to God and the natural order he created.

Now I see things differently. I cannot believe such symbolism and rituals have anything to do with God - if there is one - they are entirely human creations. In this case motivated by the fear and uncertainty of death and the desire to surround it with something that might make us feel better.

Of course for the believer it does the job - it makes them feel better.

To me now, it is no different to a witch doctor rattling bones - a shrunken head on a stick to ward away evil spirits - or burying one's mummified pets in a tomb so they can enter the next world with you - and so on.

Choose your symbolism - and enjoy!

But don't expect me not to find it all very silly and superstitious

Yes Hassan, I know you do not believe in such symbolism, but the fact that so many people (the majority of the world’s population, I hasten to add) do, suggests that doctrinally enforced symbolism has a pre-eminent place in providing solace and meaning for the believer. This is ample enough reason for the Divine’s proscription of supposedly mindless rituals.

Had a dream about Os last night.  No, not in a seedy way, it was more of a nightmare actually  Cheesy

I was mugged at a bar in USA by someone we both knew.  We then drove away in my car but it went in reverse instead of going forward.  After going down a few highways, and after numerous bumps & near misses, we had to abondon the car in some dodgy downtown area.  We got out of the car, and same crips were playing basketball and told us to get off their patch (Os looked just like the comic picture Kenan posted  Cheesy).

As we walked off, the Reds came form the other direction firing with guns.  We ran back  and there was gun warfare.  We retreated to the back wall on the floor, hoping that the crips would win and we would be saved.

One by one people on both sides were killed, until the there were less firings as the numbers of people alive kept dropping.  Eventually there was silence.

Then I felt the presence of a gun pointed at us, and I woke up!

I dont believe dream mean or predict anything of course.  I believe its random firing of mental thoughts during the day, a sort of filing process to help the brain remember and relax.

I was reading coem before I went to bed last night.  I think Os involvement was based on powerful cartoon of burly moustachioed Protector that Kenan posted,  and the car crashing was a inspired by the caravan youtube video that DeusVult posted, and the rest just followed.

I had a dream about James Cameron last night.  It wasn't a nightmare though, it was actually quite boring as dreams go.  I think it may have been sparked off by Iblis' ban, cos I remember thinking in the dream, "if only Iblis wasn't banned, he'd die of jealousy when he heard I'd met his hero."

My dreams are always the exact same, but not bad dreams though. Its always me outside, seeing trains and traintracks. Or its me inside some crazy goofy looking metro station with tons of unique subways and trams, and trains in the mountains or on top of lakes. I shit you not, this is what I dream of 99% of the time yes
