     OP - March 06, 2010, 12:06 AM

Why is it still such a blast to watch, even though I must have watched it about ten times, and I first watched it almost two decades ago?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2W628Z9vspk

Young men of every race, culture and background love this movie. Its pure trash (Oliver Stone was off his face on cocaine when he wrote it) but its just fantastic, hyper-brutal, cynical,  wonderful trash.

I'll never stop loving this movie.

I think it must be one of the ultimate 'guy' movies.

I just love this movie so much! I remember watching it for the first time when I was a teenager and being gobsmacked by it, the whole story, his rise and fall, the language, the violence, the killings, the whole FUCK YOU appetite of it, it was insane!

It's really beautiful. It has it all. Money, bitches, guns, cubans, gangsters, drugs, immigrants, columbians, and al pacino. What's not to love?

I feel this song captures the essence of Scarface:

It also has a cheesy montage sequence in the middle with a really cheesy 1980's power rock song with metallic air guitar to segue into Tony Montana's exponential rise to top kingpin!

    Push it to the Limit!

These are the lyrics! Only 1980's movies had cheese quite like this!

    ++++

    Push it to the limit
    Walk along the razor's edge
but don't look down, just keep your head
    and you'll be finished

    Open up the limit
past the point of no return
You've reached the top but still you gotta learn
    how to keep it

Hit the wheel and double the stakes
throttle wide open like a bat out of hell
    and you crash the gates
    (crash the gates)

Going for the back of beyond
    Nothing gonna stop you
    there's nothing that strong
So close now you're nearly at the brink
    so, push it

    (Ooo yeah)

    Welcome to the limit
    (The limit)
Take it maybe one step more
The power game's still playing so
    you better win it

    Push it to the limit
    (The limit)
With no one left to stand in your way
you might get careless, but you'll never be safe
    while you still feel it

    Welcome to the limit
    (The limit)
    Standing on the razor's edge
don't look down just keep your head
    and you'll be finished

If anything, Scarface juxtaposing violent bloodthirsty cuban gangsters with a cheesy song like that brings make a musical failure into pure win. That's the power of scarface. If they used Rick Astley all the gangsters would be bumping "never gonna give you up".

Rick Astley would be have been turned into a song redolent with the self destructive brutality of cocaine barons and gangsters.

So ALL men like this movie then?   wacko

I really hope not.  It is my avid wish to meet a man who doesn't love any movie/genre/music/sex moves that my ex loved.

I thought it was an alright movie, goodfellas was better for me though, and scarface, just like top gear, and shogun assassin are off my watch list. Cos of him.  Tongue

Inhale the good shit, exhale the bullshit.

"In a child's power to master the multiplication table, there is more sanctity than in all your shouted "amens" and "holy holies" and "hosannas." An idea is a greater monument than a cathedral. And the advance of man's knowledge is a greater miracle than all the sticks" - Henry Drummond

WOAH WOAH! Let's not be absurd. Scarface is great, but no way in hell is it in the same league as The Godfather first two movies  wacko

He's no friend to the friendless
And he's the mother of grief
    There's only sorrow for tomorrow
    Surely life is too brief
