    Qalbi you are not going to make them realise by forcing it away from them.

    Oh I'm so sorry I was under the impression that you have not met every single niqab wearer. But clearly we are mistaken and you have to come out with such a statement.

    True. Hence why I said they need to read history. It's not only with banning of the niqab do I agree with but I also want them to be educated.

    Meredith - Of course I haven't met every single niqabi just like you. No one has. But if they were to really, and I mean really do research on face veiling and how it came about - and Islam in general they wouldn't even think of wearing that. They can't be afraid of seeking knowledge. We have to discard the idea of the burqa being a choice.

    You know, when I'm older I'm going to make a conference like thin among niqabis. Sister to sister. And I will try to get speakers and all and try to answer their questions, educate them, etc. I have a plan.

    Yep, the ban doesn't make sense to me. I mean I don't like the Niqab but the government can't infringe on another's right unless it is a threat to the security of the majority but then we're getting into another reason for the ban which is one I'm more inclined to consider.

    I can understand you passion against the niqab but that's the woman's choice. We are not applauding but merely recognising her right to wear it. You can't tell people how to think - basic principle of freedom. We need to win these women over via debate.

    And you they are necessarily going to accept what you teach them.  They do not accept scientifically backed facts if it contradicts Islam.  They most probably dismiss it as Western propaganda.  Were you ever told the story of the sun and wind as a child?

    No, I was never told that story... I think. You're right. I even dismissed it as Western propaganda. I admit that.

    I find that France had its first "burka rage" where now a member of public felt it was her right to rip iff the niqab off another citizen.

What that lawyer did is physical assault. I kind of change my mind a little. We should educate them rather than ban the burqa HOWEVER I am still 100% against the burqa.

    Hell I'm not a Muslim but If I'm annoyed at this ban. Imagine how Muslims feel about it. I wouldn't be surprised if wearers go up.

    Ye, I think it was Muslim woman in French parliament who was for this as well because she believed the Niqab was a detriment to Muslim women but it's irrelevant now. The ban is the wrong thing and there are probably many more who are against it.

    As Meredith said, the implications for social cohesion are not good. France is already in dire circumstances with its already alienated French Muslim population especially the youth. The timing could not have been worse.

    I disagree. It stands for whatever the wearers want it to stand for. Sure, a lot of niqab wearers are forced to wear it. But those who are forced to wear it don't need to be educated as to what it stands for. If you tell them it stands for oppression, you won't have told them anything they didn't know already. If you try to educate somebody who chose to wear it, by telling them it stands for oppression, they'll tell you that they condemn forcing women to wear it but she chose to wear it herself.

    So what's plan B?
