It should work like that in principle, but there's the tendency to use the internet as oedipalized nodes. i.e someone could just read Islamopedia, Islamictube, muxlim.com etc.. I don't think most people do much on the internet if they've got something better to do. The tendency is to use it as a space of consumption, more than anything else - certainly every effort is being to enforce that trend.
Because the web is not tangible, it's not going to win over any of the 'faithful', however precisely for that reason the internet is a beautiful thing for doubting theists. Because it's relatively easy to detach your self from the people and content of the web religious moderates who otherwise wouldn't muddle into inquiring their faith, now find an avenue to do so. And as with anything else that's to do with technology this rate of conversion will probably carry a snowball effect and be exponential.
