Anyone familiar with the theories of Krishnamurti here? Any fans?

Haha, no, unfortunately, he was never a newsreader as far as I know.

He's a very radical thinker who proposed that the only way to genuine happiness, wisdom and love is to stop thinking.

So was he thinking when he said that?

Yes, that's an obvious question osman and I don't know how he squares that circle. I have only ever read his stuff infrequently and I've always been struck by the bargain he offers mankind.

According to him, thought is the beginning of all conflict - so either we have thought with all of its advances and inventions and war machines or you have complete non-conflict and love and bliss and all that good hippy stuff.

Sounds like bullshit. You can have plenty of conflict with little or no thought. Many species do that all the time.

It's not like I can stop thinking anyways. So I call BS.

That is indeed true but the difference being Human species is able to analyze, understand, design strategies and   counter strategies either to win the conflict or diffuse the conflict dear Chief.. lol.

There's some validity to the notion, it's the same idea as meditation.

You stop thinking, stop worrying, stop holding burdensome beliefs and from that one gains equanimity.

I don't think it should be taken to mean that you stop thinking entirely, just that you don't get into the situation where you can't stop thinking and your mind never rests, or where you hold strong opinions and the like.

If everyone did this, and lived in a state of permanent emotional and mental detachment, then the world probably would be a better place.  But it ain't gonna happen.

Yeezevee, I can't claim credit for the one about Pascal's Wager. That one is copied from the link just above the article, which is why I gave attribution of course. Wink

The one about propellers on top of baseball caps is, however, entirely my own work. Smiley

But yes, we should make more of an effort to get some better front page content.
