    in the West decide to convert( not revert) to Islam?

    according to various sources the majority of converts to Islam are women
    thoughts....

    It's a combination of things.  Some do it for "love", some do it because they have been tricked into believing that Islam honours women in some way that no other religion or way of life does thanks to the dawah liars.  Some do it because they are surrounded by muslims as friends in some way, and get tricked that way.

    Oh, and some do it because they are forced.

    A girl, well, women, i knew from my earliest school days killed herself because an israeli man wouldnt marry her, because she was no born jew.

    I think one of the main reasons for a healthy, smart and rational women to convert are men... as weird as it sounds.

    Don't know how common it is. 

    My "favourite" example was where some Muslim guys befriended a Sikh girl, then drugged her, raped her, photographed the rape and threatened that unless she converted to Islam they would publish the photographs in her community. 

    As these girls come from traditional families from South Asia, their first taste of freedom is when they get to University - and so they are regarded as easy pickings.

    I think another factor is the widespread almost-sexual desire that many women have about being "owned" by some "dark", mysterious, exotic, manly (i.e. chauvinist), passionate (i.e. unable to control his outbursts), possessive man who can treat them in a firm but just way (at least initially) and make them feel special (at least initially).

    So who's the best match for all that?
    Guys like the stereotypical Sicilian gangster, or the stereotypical middle-eastern Muslim ^_^

    Because most of them are mislead about what the religion really says and they don't know enough about it.

    I also heard that about 60 per cent of converts leave the faith after converting.

    I'm just remembering that miriam woman on the big questions. She really was in denial about some of the seedier aspects about Islam. Which makes me think she, andother converts follow a flowery, watered down Islam.

    I think it may have something to do with the marketing strategy.

    Yeah it is what we did but we inherited Islam via culture. People like miriam have gone out of their way to learn about Islam, which is why I find it to be peculiar.

    I remember at the beginning of this year i was seriously considering becoming a Muslim or a Muslimah.

    I mean i looked at videos by the (female)Muslims on Youtube and I read blogs like "Hegab Rehab" and it made being a female Muslim seem "cool" and fashionable.

    Then I actually started reading into the religion and I saw that what I believed were totally against what Islam teaches ( ex. homosexuality & religious laws).
    Alot of things that I read made me go "WTF" to be honest.
    Also the whole "our religion is the truth" thing. I went to this local masjid for 4 weeks and that is all i kept hearing. "Truth this, truth that".
    How do they know it is the truth? finmad
    Also Shariah Law....
    I am against any type of religious laws as I believe they leave no rule for change?

    Also,
    I remember asking someone ( a woman at the masjid) how do they know that the Quran really is God's word. They kept going over how it is "protected" and Muhammad was illiterate. But those two reasons didn't answer my question. How do they know it is protected. In the early stages of Islam how did they know that someone didnt change the words to fit themselves? I mean its not impossible.


    ....i think Islam needs a reform to be honest.
    I mean times have changed. how come someone honeslty believes in a book that was written hundreds and hundreds of years ago is beyond me.
    i mean stoning as punishment.....really?

    i did notice that. Alot of times when I use to watch the conversion videos on youtube they all seem to follow that formula.


    they were all going down a "rough" path and if it wasn't for Islam they would all be dead or have some STD.

    What makes you so sure that alot of women do convert to Islam?  I've seen lots of claims from dawaganda merchants that they do, I've never seen any reliable figures on the subject.

    At the Masjid i attended for a couple of weeks, the majority of the people there were from Pakistan, Yemen, Saudi Arabia. I think only a few of the people were born in the US..

    But I did read somewhere the majority of converts are women....

    I've read that somewhere too, but I've never seen any figures that backed the claim up.  I wouldn't take it at face value, personally.

    Its mostly because muslim men usually insist on their wives converting, whereas women dont tend to do the same in reverse.

    Also, as a side note, if its true I wonder also if the majority of converts to any religion are women.

    And I guess that's because Muslim women are forbidden from marrying anything except Muslim men.
    So if a Muslim woman agrees on marrying/dating/sexing a non-Muslim it's kinda implicit that she does not actually give a shit about converting him.

    why woman convert... great question btw...
    there's something that islam or any organized religion offers people that might not be present in their lives.. a unity of some sort.. like belonging to a strong clique or gang.. automatically gaining over 1 billion brothers and sisters.. and a good looking guy never hurts...
    coming together every week to chant the same words laugh at the same jokes, pray to the same god.. striving for the same mission regardless whether it's humane..

    Who are these sources?  Muslims?  Then I don't believe it just because they say it.  Muslims have a bad habit of not supplying sources for their outlandish claims, especially in relation to dawah.  Show me the daleel, I say.  Majority of what sort of converts? Whites - yeah I would say most of them are women.  Black? I would not necessarily think that, but then again, Black converts are not truly of interest to the sort of people who promote the "women are embracing Islam in droves" meme. 

    Why do women convert to Islam? The same reasons they convert to any other fucking religion. Islam is not special and I don't think we should afford it the special status Muslims deserve by treating conversion - esp by women - to it as somehow unique or different than conversion - esp by women - to fundamentalist Christianity or Krisna Consciousness or Catholicism or Buddhism or whatever.

    The fact of the matter is that every single woman is (imagine) an individual with myriad reasons and a murky, ambiguous history of her own - and her own mind.  She may have many reasons for converting; she may have one.  Even all them white girls ain't the same (oh they do it b/c they marry an Arab, hee hee hee).  Muslims want to tell us that (white) women convert for one reason - because they "recognize the dignity that Islam affords women," but that is simplistic and insulting to women -- those who convert and those who un-convert and those who never come into contact with the deen.  Islam assumes a sheep mentality for women already; let's not contribute to it with this shit.
