    OK, so I may well be getting an opportunity to travel this autumn as I have a little bit of money and am planning a couple of months off. I have not travelled, proper backpacking style for many a year now, and really want to replenish myself with a good adventure. My instincts are to go either to Latin America as I have always wanted to see Brazil and Argentina, or India. At the moment I am leaning towards India because I have friends that have backpacked around the country and implored me to do it, and it is a place I have always wanted to see and experience.

    Any thoughts, reccomendations, preferences?

    Latin America.
    Cause it's gonna be spring-summer over there when it's autumn here.

    Have you done the Appalachian trail? I know that isn't strictly Latin America but you did mention travelling native.

    Go to South America. I would love to go to Asia, but South America has the slight edge

    India has been on my travel wish list for longer. I never had a strong curiosity for Brazil / Argentina until some people I know went there and showed me their pictures and told me all about it, plus an eternally latent romance for the lands of football at its most glorious was reawakened.

    They are entirely different animals I guess. India stands head and shoulders above latin america as far as history, culture and diversity goes. Its like a world unto itself.

    Cool deusvult. If I decide that its South America I'll let you know. There's a couple of friends I'm waiting on and then we'll decide where to go. I think they are India-centric but we don't have to decide for a while.

    So....if you go to India could you get me a really nice Sari from Delhi?  Preferably a yellow one....I dont have any yellow ones. O! I'm gonna need some bindis (dot's on forhead), matching bangles, matching earings, matching necklace, matching rings.....Thanks!  grin12

    Whenever a desi goes back to the old country a horde of "aunties" mob her to get stuff for them. So when they get back, they have like 2 suitcases dedicated to stuff that isn't even their own! It happens everytime.
