Why does Arabic sound like a donkey being raped with a cricket bat?

I can't read much of the related information in Swiss, but I'm guessing his intention was to create some kind of debate about islam within Switzerland? Was his point to give the Swiss a taste of a future they might be sleepwalking into as muslims assert their influence (making the call from atop churches seems provocative and insinuating that christianity will be assimilated?), or perhaps that there's little difference between church bells and adhan (that we should choose to either accept or reject both)?

FWIW, I've stayed in muslim countries where adhan could be heard clearly wherever you were, and I always found it jarring even when devoutly muslim. Then again, I'm the type to complain to environmental protection about noise pollution from church bells.

I don't know about you but when I hear bells it is something joyous and happy; celebration of life. When I hear a call to prayer it sounds like a declaration of war telling the Muslim troops to get their arms and get ready for a day of rape and pillage.

Odd, to me it just sounds like a call to prayer.

It's not 'Arabic' per se, but the type of recital. If you recited in English in the same way it would be annoying, too.

For example, Arabic pop music sounds quite pleasant, imo:

I love what that one Swiss woman had to say about it:

Me too, that was the first popular Arabic song that came to mind with someone semi-known to a western audience (Cheb Mami).

One of my favourites of him duetting with Sting:

Maybe I'm just lucky having never been 'exposed' to such a 'call to pray' due to the lack of Muslims in New Zealand or the fact that most Muslims actually have a watch these days and don't require some fuckwitt screaming down a microphone.

It doesn't... but you rape donkeys so that explains a lot, you t***!

True, it sounds more like a person sitting on the toilet pushing out a massive shit. When I haven't had a regular amount of fibre the sound I make sounds very similar to the call to prayer.

Social study I guess, to see the public reaction.  Anything that stimulates the neurons is considered art nowadays, and I like that.

Much better than a photographic replica of a scene, even if it is sometimes a lot easier (like Damian Hirst proved with his shit in a baked bean tin)

A random guess in the same way that Indian music sounds like nails being scratched against a blackboard.

Jesus fucking Christ, send that women to a singing school - she can't sing for sour apples.

Btw, could she get bigger earrings? honestly, I think what she has is a little understated - they really need to stretch her earlobes down to her shoulders for that more 'obvious' appearance.

The call to prayer is pretty jarring, but so is listening to Hail Marys and Padre Nuestas.  When I lived in Argentina I would have shot the speakers off of the cathedral if I could have.  God that stuff is annoying.  I don't mind church bells when they announce weddings, funerals, or the hour, because it happens infrequently or is actually helpful ( when telling time).

So once again I'm left with the classic Irish man's dilemma, do I eat the potato or do I let it ferment so I can drink it later?
