  • Strange characters in postings
     OP - April 23, 2010, 07:31 AM

    Hey,

I've been noticing that some smilies in certain postings have a strange character in front of them. And that character is the non-breaking space character (& nbsp;,   or \u00A0).

How does it get there? I'm sure one of the scripts inserts it along with the smiley code, and I only detect these characters in postings made by IE users.

Am I gonna fix it? Erm, no. Got better things to do than care about shit caused by IE.

I've also noticed that in some quotes the smileys are replaced by their alt text. Not sure if that is an IE thing too or not.

It happens in opera too if that helps?  but only when I;m editing a post, right after I hit post, and the page is about to flip to the refreshed page, the smiley code changes to weird symbols.

Inhale the good shit, exhale the bullshit.

Hm, yeah, I was going to ask you whether you have changed your browser, because I've noticed those characters in your postings, too. ;(

Oh, maybe it's posts I make whilst at college?

They use a really old version of IE, whereas I've been using this opera browser (and upgrading lol) for over 3 years now.
