    billy, I share your amazement and awe at the brain and consciousness.
    I am happy for now to think of the brain as a very complex network of neurons that are constantly interacting with one other.  To me, a thought is a like a pattern of the firing of neurons.  And of course, one thought can trigger another pattern. and so on... and new links are constantly being made or strengthened.
