Allah’s Tailors” gaining profile in Turkey

    http://public.dawn.com/2010/11/12/%E2%80%9Callahs-tailors%E2%80%9D-gaining-profile-in-turkey.html

    Quote
ISTANBUL: Along Istanbul’s busy Eminonu waterfront women swathed in dark coats and scarves knotted once under the chin jostle past others clad in vivid colours and head coverings carefully sculpted around the face.

Two decades ago such a polished, pious look scarcely existed in Turkey. But today it has the highest profile exponents in First Lady Hayrunnisa Gul and Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan’s wife Emine, and the brands behind it plan ambitious expansion.

The headscarf remains one of Turkey’s most divisive issues.

Everything from the way it is tied and accessorised, to the poise and demeanour of the wearer, is laden with meaning in this majority Muslim but officially secular country of 74 million.

From a simple headcovering, stigmatised in the early days of the Turkish Republic as backward and rural, it has become, in the last decades, a carefully crafted garment and highly marketable commodity, embodying the challenge of a new class of conservative Muslims to Turkey’s secularist elites.

Dammit that Dress is too Tight., With a muslim mind set that I go in out., that dress is too sexy..

Put these Allah’s Tailors  in jail., or make the dress  loose., best is black tent..

Do not let silence become your legacy.. Question everything
I renounced my faith to become a kafir,
the beloved betrayed me and turned in to  a Muslim

It's only human to want to look nice, to show off your curves, to experiment with colours, to stand out of the crowd. You can cover a woman in a bin liner, but she'll still manage to make it look nice lol

    Agreed.

I knew a hijabi who wore high heels, always was surrounded by boys, had a boyfriend, wore short sleeve shirts. well at least she has her hijab on.

^^ That sounds like most hijabis here in my country, lol.

Luckily I can't see a strand of hair or a toe so I am not turned on.

So once again I'm left with the classic Irish man's dilemma, do I eat the potato or do I let it ferment so I can drink it later?
