  • A question about Bahaism
     OP - November 20, 2010, 06:58 PM

What is the Bahai position on premarital sex and the consumption of alcohol and pork ?

I think Bahai faith works on the basis that all the religions were for a particular time & place, but Islam is the final revelation.  Why so you ask?

Intoxicants/premarital sex forbidden, not sure about the pork.

But they also have very hippy teachings. They were one of the first religions to have "racial unity of the world" as a central tenet.
For example, inter-religious marriages are permitted (Bahai women can marry non-Bahais and non-Muslims). In addition, interracial marriages are not only permitted but actively encouraged.

And all Bahais I met are very nice and laid-back.

I like Baha'ism as a concept of unifying religions (makes it easier to knock them down), have never met a Bahai.

The only thing is that many Muslims see Bahaism as a threat or as an insult to Islam, besides which the whole idea just seems to be still be really apologetic towards Islam.

Omid Djalili from the film "The Infidel" is a Bahai.  Smiley

Ye, it is one of the better religions but homosexuality is still forbidden in baha'ism - one of the downers.

Anyone know Raine Wilson?  He plays Dwight from the show The Office.  He's a Bahai.

^ His parents are hippy Bahais. I'm not sure if he is one himself.

He was on Oprah one time and explaining Bahaism so i'm guess he is.  He also said that he used to do some kinda ceremonial stuff there.
