Well the majority of torrents which you might use and are good, require seeding too. Sometimes you can't find stuff on torrents since it's dead (no seeds) and in fact many of the stuff on torrents these days has viruses, Trojans and spyware. All of the stuff you find on torrents was most likely first distributed on Usenet news group servers.

Its worth a try, why don't you get a Usenext account any try the free trial for a few days.

I'll definitely look into it more. But I download the latest movies and tv shows 99% of the time so torrents work perfectly for me.

I use torrents sometimes. With Usenet it uses all my bandwidth with torrents I get about 1.3MB/s and with Usenet I get 2.5MB/s basically my 20meg internet package divided by 8.

So basically it maxes out my download speed I live pretty much next-door to the exchange. Plus, since you can use an SSL encryption to a Usenet server, your ISP can't throttle your bandwidth.

I am going to be getting a 100meg(down)/10meg(up) connection soon. I can't wait.

I still use newsgroups. You get a free service with Virgin KT and they don't throttle it either.  I use it frequently with Newsleecher and usually get speeds well in excess of 8 MB/s.   I can download an album literally in a few seconds, although some torrents can be fast they can't beat that.  yes

Why not just stream it? :/ if it's a video you're talking about.

The quality is not the same.

Usenet content has generally higher quality. Since most of the free media is first distributed onto Usenet and then propagated onto the rest of the internet.

Yeah I was reading about Virgin offering this, though Virgin do throttle on some packages, depending on if it is a violation of the fair use policy, during peak times.

    http://shop.virginmedia.com/help/traffic-management/traffic-management-policy.html

The only problem with Virgin Media is, they offer shit channels not as good as sky. And if you want to include good channels it can cost you an arm and leg.

With sky I pay about 85 to 95 a month this includes the phone, tv, and broadband. I downgraded recently the TV since I don't watch it much.

I have the full package with Virgin and the 50 MB/s , phone and TV and my monthly bill is the same as yours, about £90.  I know Virgin says it uses traffic management but I have never yet been throttled no matter what time of the day or night, no matter how much I download and no matter what it is I'm downloading and I consistently get the full speed.  I think they leave those at the top alone.  Grin

Well I've converted to Virgin for the 100meb broadband. canceled my sky, though if I don't like it I am going to cancel my contract and go back to sky. My wife's not too happy about it, since she loses 90% of the channels she watches, like all those Paki/Indian and Islamic channels. But I'll be on virgin by the 18 of next month.

Yea, same as mine apart from the broadband - we're getting 100 MB/s very soon.  Seriously though, apart from the TV which I agree is crap compared to Sky, the broadband is spot on, you won't be disappointed and I've been with Virgin for about 5 years now and only had one incident when broadband was down in all that time and that was only for an hour.
Can't fault their broadband at all.

btw check that your phone service gives caller-display. You have to request that separately at additional cost. I thought mine came with it but it didn't and had to request it as an add-on later.   Afro

Sky charge for caller display too. I think its £1.99 that should come standard. I have annon reject too.
