well, i'd had doubts for a while, but the big turning point, when i went from "I wish i still believed" to "fuck this shit" was when I had a fight with my parents, mostly about my major, but also about them being too controlling, and somehow we got onto the topic of marriage, and my father said that if I ever got married he'd make sure that I would only marry someone who would be the man of the house and be in charge, etc. and that just made me angry, because he basically said he'd only allow me to marry someone if that person would be controlling, because clearly I was too uppity and needed someone to control me. and it pissed me off especially because he kept quoting quran and hadith at me, the same verses and ahadith that I had been rationalizing for myself for months. and I thought to myself "why am I so insistent on rationalizing this when it is clearly sexist BS?"

so far in the closet (religion wise) that I can see narnia from here.
